not only are we a top dps class but we can passively interrupt at all times as well as all kinds of bufs and utility with totems we are almost indestructible! and if by some miracle we die it’s really no big deal because we can just reincarnate
Also to be fair/correct, our interrupt can miss/does not work at all against nature immune mobs, but besides that. Also we aren’t top DPS overall, it just feels that way while leveling because of windfury luck - having full mana
We are a top DPS class while leveling from 60-70, if you’ve got the gear for it. But as mentioned, it levels out at 70 and we become merely good at personal DPS.
Like the little angry gremlin I am, I charge into battle with my big weapon dragging behind me. I then make my enemy bleed, slow their attack speed, and reduce their attack power. I then hope to land a crit early to get the damage ball rolling. I fear/snare mid-battle to mend my wounds, and I eat so much more than my little gnome stomach can handle. It’s a lot of work, but it pays off.
I think any class is a bit jealous of shaman right now.
Ele shamans are very powerful in early content as they have a ton of baseline crit and spell hit built into their talents.
As the phases progress and other classes get more gear they quickly plateau whereas enhancement shaman will get more powerful linearly.
So early phases ele is a monster dps with monster utility but later on they will become an average dps that still has monster utility to make those warlocks and mages take your limelight.
It has always been like this. WoW has never been about trying to balance the leveling experience. While things tend to become more balanced(ish) around max level.
