so, the laziest small indie dev company move route to take…
is unfortunately to just extend TBC patches to existing wow classic servers. this is the most likely route they will take.
now then, how do they service or make right their smaller reamining playerbase who doesnt want to move on to TBC? they like classic. theyll have to slow roll 1 or 2 classic only servers and allow people to transfer their character to it permanently with a disclaimer saying no backsies.
but what if they later decide they want to upgrade to TBC? guess theyd have to reroll onto it or beg blizzard for a paid transfer in for again no backsies to classic if they decide to move forward.
now then, what about players like me who want the chance to get off their backwards server and not have to pay 250$ to move 10 characters. honestly if i cant pick a TBC server im likely to quit.
my prefered TBC release is to make TBC prepatch servers and allow people to level fresh on them, get your belfs and space goats up, then allow classic transfers to them at a later date, say 2-3 weeks. all one way of course so theres no character duping to multiple servers or gold shenanagains.
Why do people assume they can’t give you a copy option because it’s impossible to prevent exploits like this?
It’s very easy to prevent exploits while allowing players to have both a TBC and vanilla version of all their characters.
One way would be making a launch day snapshot of everyone’s characters. If they want to copy they get a copy of that snapshot. No more and no less.
Another way is just to copy every Classic vanilla server to a TBC server. Add another option in the battle net drop-down for TBC Classic and you’re all set. No need for character copying as everything will just be there for whatever client you choose. Ez pz lemon squeezy
Look we just got confirmation today that it’s coming let’s just enjoy the moment, we will know what the process is gonna look like in 3 weeks chill bb , glory is close!
Once again the no life losers think the game should be designed for them or that they are the majority of players. I doubt that many people level from 1 to 60 in 2-3 weeks.
and those who cant dont care about a prepatch, they just want to play, they will be able to do in peace in that grace period. to those people it does not matter if they have alone time or not. or if there is a top playerbase coming in or not. they exist in their own little bubble.
It really depends how they release it. They could give us 2.0 with nerfed xp, nerfed world buffs, and nerfed thunderfury. All things they did in later patches. I could see them including them on day one.
