As someone who skipped TBC in the last iteration, do we get to level to 70 as soon as prepatch hits Jan13? Or is it like how retail expansions have been for the past 15+ years and its just the extra content like new races, gbank? Then like 2 weeks later we get to level to 70.
You are stuck at 60 until TBC goes like live like 3-4 weeks later.
Damn we need that date.
Prepatch is TBC talents, lowered xp requirements, some new quest hubs with 60 level cap.
You cant walk into outlands (and level 70) until TBC proper releases some weeks later
They never said 3-4 weeks later.
I’m estimating.
A few weeks ago I might have hoped for 3-4 weeks.
With prepatch not happening til January, at this point I’m gonna assume 2 until told otherwise.
1 week wouldn’t shock me.
2021 TBC Classic prepatch was new talents, new races, new old world quests, new racial starter zones. You could not go to Outland or level past 70, no expanded professions. I don’t remember if jewelcrafting was available in prepatch.
2021 Prepatch lasted two weeks, I suspect this prepatch will be a little longer than last time since it was pretty universally panned as too short and every prepatch since has been 3-4 weeks. But since no release date was given it’s a guess.
Yeah id imagine this 1 is 4 weeks.
All the classes are so much better to level in pre patch too.
Im doing enhance and it sucks atm, dual wield is so much better
Yeah, you could do JC 1-300 in prepatch.
If you don’t have a full kit banked up or aren’t a mage though it’s just annoying AF because the only trainers are in SMC (bad enough) and bleeping Exodar.
so if it’s 4 weeks, that means it will run right into midnight pre patch and launch, that does not make sense? Why would they launch the two basically at the same time
Maybe Blizzard has some hard data that says they won’t have a lot of overlap between the two, or maybe they’re just not very good at this sort of thing.
Midnight pre-patch yes, but not the launch. We’ll get a month of TBC proper before the launch of Midnight, which is fine. If you want to play both it’s not a huge loss to miss out on the retail pre-patch.
Not saying that it wouldn’t have been even better to have TBC prepatch out in December and TBC out in January, but if they intend for Vanilla to last X months and people want a month of pre-patch, and they’re not going to move a retail release for Classic, overlapping the retail pre-patch with the Classic release is probably the least of all evils.
