Continuing the discussion from Is Holy Pally not a thing?:
Is it realistically feasible to bring a holy paladin up from 1 to raiding 70, without having to level (and then later dump) tailoring? Is PMC a necessity to get over the hurdle of Heroics? Are heroics even a hurdle?
My intended professions would be enchanting/alchemy.
It’s my personal opinion that the tailoring sets are overkill. Of course, being the best you can be is never a bad thing, but you won’t be turned down for not having it. I am sitting at 1400 healing on my Druid if I swap trinkets and I’m not using a single piece of Kara gear, I am not fully enchanted, and I don’t have the best gems.

That set is decent but kind of a meme on pala/sham, cuz spirit is useless for ur class. it’s total garbage by the next phase
heroics are a joke just use cc as it was intended. they did not intend for u to just roll in SHH and double pull everything with a pala until people have like t5 gear lol
Raids are generally a joke til Muru (even brutallus will be steamrolled this is why p.servers tuned him up so much)
you can clear kara with a blue prot pala and 9 moonkins in green gear
If u really have mana problems take alch, alch stone and mad alch potion is GG (And procs free elixirs/flasks) or buy ace of beasts deck (u can 2-man this in tbc, we did it with sham+priest). I don’t think u will have mana problem on pala of all classes especially in heroics where u can drink every pack. U hold the reins, nothing the tank can do, he cant pull if ur oom (in theory anyway…u never know with these pub tanks lol)
TLDR dont level that tryhard tailoring on a freakin pala lol, UNLESS IT MAKES U HAPPY (It is a sweet lookin set end of the day)
And come on do u wanna be that pala in cloth out in the world, u will get stomped quick
I don’t know how good PMC is for Paladin, but the main disadvantage of not the greatest itemization on top of wearing cloth and losing a lot of stam is pretty big. It only matters somewhat in raids - as every other facet you benefit more from wearing mail/plate and a shield, and having more stam. Even in raids having more stamina is important.
Outside of bleeding edge progression, it’s not necessary.
It would be a splits alt, not a progression raiding character.

Don’t fret over phase 1. This gear is not worth it. Phase 1 stuff pretty much sucks except for a few trinkets and for a few select classes. Kara isn’t hard and neither is anything else in the game at the moment.
I’m only going for Spellstrike pants for my lock because they’re good and are bis for a long while.
