[TBC] Combat Rogue rotation

I’ve read several guides and I played a Hunter/Mage during original TBC. I didn’t start playing a Rogue at max level till WotLK. That being said, I’m at the moment Combat Sword spec and I’m having trouble building up combo points.

I start off with Cheap Shot for the 2 points to Slice and Dice, then by the time I’m able to get 5 combo points again, the target is at about 20%. From what I’ve read, you only need Rupture if the target is a high health target, otherwise, just use Eviscerate.

I feel like, if I do a 4 point Eviscerate, the combo points aren’t totally wasted, whereas waiting for 5 points is wasteful.

Am I doing this right?

If it’s a basic enemy I usually open with cheap shot from stealth, then use one sinister strike. Then use slice n dice at 3 combo points. Then I use sinister strike as my energy regens till I have 4 combo points. Then use eviscerate. Most things die at this phase right when my slice n dice is about to expire. I basically never use rupture. I’m not claiming to be a pro at combat this is just what I’ve found seems to work the best in the time I’ve put into it so far just fighting basic world mobs.

Its a feel to play tbh, depending on the opening mob you can cheap or you can open with garrote if its a caster, if you are going against 2 mobs what i like to do is open g/cs (mob variant). Toss a 1-2 cp snd depending on their hp and lvl to my level. Then instead of blowing BF for low hp mobs, you can toss up a ss and a 1 cp rup and swap targets or even toss a 1-2 pt kidney then swap to the active target and gouge and repeat back to previous target. That helps keep the dmg incoming lowered while maintaining damage on the 1st target. Evis you can even do a 3 cp and bet on ruthlessness but if you are fighting higher hp mobs or bosses, rupture takes prior due to it now scaling with attack power and its constant damage while you refresh snd
