[TBC] Bug? Arena Points in 2s for wins/losses on mismatched rating totally broken

Been noticing some really bad issues with points being awarded or taken away in 2s on Oceanic battlegroup in arena. This is particularly noticeable with big mismatched ratings of hundreds of points. We are a low rated team for context (highest ever 1450, currenting 1300-1350 for last few weeks). No prior history of high rating on these toons that could explain a much higher personal mmr. Overall win rate in the negatives, maybe 35-40% wins). No big streaks of wins either.

Now we’ve frequently faced team 250-350 points higher than us recently (1300 vs 1550+ all the way to 1700) and in some cases they lost 20 points, while we gained 8 on the rare occasion we won… That’s against a team 250 points HIGHER

Other 1600-1700 teams we lose 8-9 points and they gain the same, despite that huge difference in points, and again our personal MMR are nowhere near there, they simply can’t be…

More rarely we’ll face a team 250-350 higher than us and we lose, we lose say 8 points and they gain nothing? Which is ridiculous at both ends of that equation. If they gain nothing, logically we should lose nothing.

We’ve also faced some much lower teams, where we face someone say 200 below us, and they gain a couple of points while we lose say 10. Again, ok maybe they have a high personal MMR, but there’s no reason to do that, they should be propelled up to their real rating by winning and being rewarded for it, so they aren’t stuck curb stomping noobs. Like me.

This system is basically broken. Again oceanic server, where the player pool is smaller. But clearly the driving factor behind points being earnt is that personal MMR and it’s ridiculous.

We went 5-6 games earlier and lost 40-points, we couldn’t even figure out how this was possible. Most of those games were against higher rated teams too.

There should be some level of consistency with arena points being earnt or lost in games. Obviously those under 1k rating get enormously inflated gains until they reach 1k because the devs wanted to change things and were too incompetent to do it properly.

However why are we not seeing minimised points loss to teams 200-400 rating higher than us at 1300, and the even bigger question, when we at 1300 beat a 1550 or 1600 team (yes it’s rare) why do we make the same gains we would as against a team at 100 points or 1000, or 1100, or 1200 rating?

Getting curb stomped as a pretty mediocre player, that’s fine. What’s not fine is how this rating system is proportioning out points for wins and losses in a simply illogical way. Add terrible matchmaking (where 1 in 10 games is someone within 100 points) and it’s just incredibly bad game design.

It should be consistent, and obviously beating a much higher rated team should award more points, and losing to them should remove far less. ESPECIALLY when the loss to gain ratio isn’t locked to 1:1.

Also if this is normal, fix the hidden MMR because clearly, despite losing the vast majority of our games, the system is so stupid it thinks we are 1600 rated players. Which is equally clearly not the case.

This is clearly bugged or just runs a system so useless and stupid that it boggles the mind.
