It just does not work. Just admit what you really want is classic +.
Zones like hyjal and upper EK finished and new direction / alternate time for the wow story all set in Azeroth with same game design

Or you could have TBC and Wrath with #NoChanges
I’ll admit it, that’s what I want. I want them to continue to finish and detail the zones without departing from the look & feel currently presented (the chic-goth “identity” given to the Undead starting in Wrath and beyond is atrocious) and without them undermining the core mechanics of how the game works and the uphill battle necessary to progress.
So, yes… start here. Introduce more zones, more instances, more quests, more items, more content… but don’t water down the whole game world or revamp existing zones and retcon/retrofit them with new appearances. Don’t do hand-held made-for-cinema single-player campaign-style “quests” like they did for Legion. Don’t just give me epics as a charity. Don’t put flight paths every 10 feet. Don’t “phase” the game world. Don’t ever think about re-doing the atrocious nightmare that was Gilneas.
But… do keep telling the stories. Do keeping adding new adventures for us to go on and new places to discover or re-discover.
Flying itself wasn’t actually the problem, any more than a mount/epic mount is. But the flight paths every 10 feet were. The teleporting people automatically to battlegrounds and instances was.
We could get WoD instead without flying. That at least was designed without it. Also a better game then BFA or even vanilla.
But both expansions were made with flying in mind… It was when Cataclsym came out that they gave up trying to integrate flying into the world itself.
People who ask for no flying in either of these things have never mined/gathered in either as well.
This is just as dumb as asking FOR flying in vanilla
While flying is great, it has to many downfalls in a game like this.
Dont know of anyway to fix it that would work. Dont think its even possible.
Unless flying were more like
Well first you need to create an invisible wall atmosphere in the entire game with limited points (land zone). This atmosphere needs to be as close to the ground as possible. Also make flying mounted players untargetable/unable to be attacked.
I would have 1-3 land zones per map, to activate the automatic landing you just need to fly over that area/small radius to enter the automated landing and dismount.
So basically
1 Click/press mount
2 Game mounts you and automatically ascends your character above the “atmosphere” - From this point on you can fly anywhere you want but you cannot land unless in designated areas.
For me this solves every problem that i have with flying but also gives you the ability to still be able to fly over any area for scouting or just general sight seeing. I would be generous with the “land zone” areas per map so you wouldnt need to ride your ground mount as much but you still have that option and it be viable still.
The only thing i like about flying is to see the lay of the land, even if ive seen it before.
Nice bait title.
That’s not accurate either. What they really want is WoW 2.
No. I love both of those expansions but they can use some tweaks. I don’t like leaving stuff unbalanced for the sake of no changes. But that will be after classic so hopefully blizz earns some trust
This.
Best part of TBC and WOTLK was the flying. Flying is an AWESOME addition to the game!!!
Vanilla sure could use a new gold sink after getting epic mounts. They could add flying to this game. Would make it so much better!
I’d rather just have them both exactly as they were.
Healer/Tank classes have a funny gold sink. Anyways, no it wouldn’t.
There’s no reason it couldn’t work. No content in TBC requires you to fly to complete it, it only requires flying to access it which is easily fixed with a flight-path. Same goes for Wrath.
Just like with classic at the moment, splitting the playerbase up EVEN FURTHER by having blizzard try to decide between TBC as it was or TBC without flying is just not viable. The only viable option is the default… which is WITH flying.
Which makes sense. It’s authentic. A museum piece just like classic is now.
I’d be willing to bet money easily that if blizzard releases TBC, it will be as it was.
Flying killed the feeling of a large world made it to easy for resource gathering made the world feel empty it was great at first but long term it killed what made wow huge. They can always just add more flight paths to TBC but if they start retail 2.0 that would be sad.
