Tazavesh, a disappointing city

With the announcement of 11.2 having Tazavesh as its main hub, I really was hyped. Really, it’s been a city that should’ve been a hub since early Shadowlands but ended up not being, it’s beautiful, huge and special.

However after playing some of 11.2, Tazavesh feels really dull. Most of the city still has mobs inside, there’s not everything a city should have, nothing is easy to find or explained and there’s crucial stuff missing for it to be a main city really.

To make things different, a new patch that brings a hub like that should have stuff like a Catalyst, a Great Vault, Portals to main cities, Quartermasters for the previous reputations as well as the new ones, ect ect.

Idk, I feel like much more could’ve been done with Tazavesh now that we finally get it as a hub like what, 5 years later?

Yeah I really don’t get how you fumble such an easy w. Like… why would you stick a bunch of mobs inside it? Idk. Just feels like a missed oppurtunity to have us feel like we really get to explore and get lost in Taza’vesh as a city.

I don’t really see any use for it as a hub city other than from a narrative sense. I mean you just port there straight from our existing expansion capital. Going back to dornogal is still easier for most things.

Agreed, but since they brought it back because they didn’t give us that hub back in Shadowlands, might as well give us everything a hub has to offer

If it had what I listed I wouldn’t need to go back to Dornogal nonstop, Weeklies should also be there, as well as the AH, Banks, ect. I mean everything a city has to offer. Tazavesh is big enough really. Mobs are the only reason we aren’t getting it all, and after the campaign we should’Ve been able to clear the remaining mobs.

Tazavesh is really boring, I was underwhelmed…

Taza is missing some flava, that’s for sure. But as a patch city it’s fine. It pales in comparison to Undermine, but can’t have that quality every patch, just not doable.

I would say having an AH and bank would be a waste in Taza. In a few weeks it will be dead. Already I barely see other players there.

What did you expect? It was boralus all over again basically. A hub used for narrative purposes.

Boralus had all the services one would expect from a capital city, packed together in the central square, while the rest of the city was used for RP purposes, making it the best city Blizzard ever designed.

Because it isn’t. It’s a questing hub. You might as well say that Mmarl or the Vindicaar had “stuff missing”, which they did, because they aren’t cities. Neither is Tazavesh.

Why would they do this? What’s the point of cramming a bunch of NPCs into Tazavesh instead of using the same NPCs in Dornogal?

Undermine was almost the entire patch (aside from the little section in Ringing Deeps and a few quest mobs in Zuldazar), of course it was bigger and more intricate than Tazavesh.

I’d also say there’s something of an intentional difference in style. Undermine is super busy, visually speaking, to the point that some of my guildies find it overwhelming just trying to find your way around. That works for the goblins, since their whole concept is that they push everything to the extreme and they’re super into whatever they’re doing at the moment. For K’aresh they’re clearly working with a more minimalist design to capture the haunting, magnificent desolation suited to the last scraps of a dying world.

Which is all to say: Tazavesh isn’t meant to have piles of junk everywhere like Undermine, because it should feel different.

I am not really feeling this entire update. I keep doing stuff in Undermine to have fun, but I know this is shortlived.

The focus is going away (or already has, if you’ve finished the campaign) from K’aresh. We already know we’re going back to EK for at least part of Midnight. All things point to K’aresh being largely abandoned after 11.2 ends.

The only thing that stands out is that they added portals to active bountiful delves from Tazavesh, like a relic of some intended greater hub city that was scrapped in development.

It’s pretty much a leftover asset from Shadowlands so makes sense they just plugged in Taza as a temp patch hub and did little renovation. The overall zone of K’aresh is more impressive.

I agree that it’s more of an ‘upward and onward’ to Midnight feeling at this point.

It looks nice and I like the NPCs, but I was hoping it would be a little more lively like Undermine with a lot of things to do in it each day. Granted the patch is the whole zone and not just the city, but still, I was hoping there would be more to do IN the city. Not the end of the world, but I’ll just be there each week grinding renown and WQs until I have all that I want and renown is maxed. Undermine is somewhere I’ll return someday, but unlikely I will this place. /Shrug

It’s a sub hub. Dornagal is still the main city for the expansion.

In taxavesh you dont get the resting buff(maybe closer to the inn). There isnt a bank. No tradeskill areas. But there is a portal to delves and Dornagal.

i was expecting a bustling city with a lot of things to see. These Ethereals/Brokers have access to everything and anything, so you’re expecting a lot of random shops and stuff to see!

Undermine has a ton of vendors, several selling the same goods at varying prices. A ton of fun things to see and do as gobs (and others!) hawk their goods. Even with Darkfuse all over the place it felt like an alive city, always with something new to find and see.

Tazavesh sure isn’t that. You can fly over everything, and even if you don’t there’s nothing to see. You can’t interact with most of the NPCs. There’s nothing really neat to look at or interact with. Then you have the Shadowguard taking up like, half the city where there is also nothing to do or see, minus killing Shadowguard. The main building has nothing but your portals, your rep vendor and…Well that’s it. It feels just as dead as K’aresh, and I don’t think it should be?

I consider 11.2 a step down in a number of ways compared to 11.1, and Tazavesh is certainly one of the more prominent ways.

It’s true I was expecting more of a Moroccan bazaar/casbah feeling, but they can’t all be winners.

Just gives me more incentive to go back into Undermine and finish up that Darkfuse rep. I couldn’t care less about farming ‘bee’ content and mogs.

I do need to finish it as well. About half way done!

I do need to get a all the S.C.R.A.P. stuff too. I got the shredder mount that has a bomb launcher! That fires literal, fuse-based bombs. I’d use it all the time if it wasn’t ground based.

This is a good week to do some Undermine content for the half Star shard as a worldsoul quest.

Go down into Undermine and do a bunch of dumb stuff for 30 minutes (/tickle the concierge lol) and get your fractured shard.
