Tauren Mages

So there was an earlier thread regarding this but I didn’t want to necro it. Reading through it there seemed two consistant arguments against bringing the mage class to Taurens.

  1. There is no history/lore to support it.
  2. They have not had enough time to familiarize themselves with it.

I’d like to address these.

  1. History/Lore - Yes there is to my knowledge no reference of any Tauren mages in lore. That being said I can say the same for priests and paladins. Additionally lore within the game is constantly changing with each new expansion, can they not add lore to the game to introduce the concept?

  2. Not Familiar With It - The Tauren race has been around Trolls and the Undead since the beginning, it’s certainly reasonable to think some of them have been curious. Balance druids can use arcane spells, shamans can use fire and frost spells surely it wouldn’t much more difficult to learn other spells of the same type?

Thoughts?

My only thoughts is that gameplay > Lore, race / class combos shouldn’t exist.

Well Sun Walkers appeared out of thin air so I don’t see why some sort of Sun Thrower couldn’t come out of the woodwork.

Grim totem were said to have mages and warlocks.

They can add lore for anything if they want, but it’s not just history. Tauren have never really been the arcane types. They associate with other races, but that doesn’t mean everything is going to be adopted to their own culture. They’ve gotten on pretty fine without mages so far.

If I could I would remove orc, troll, dwarf, worgen, maghar, vulpera and mechagnome mages

Hold up. Why mechagnome? They’re just heavily enhanced gnomes?

I just kinda felt like they wouldn’t try and learn magic but rather just the physical classes. Deffo would remove monk from them LOL

I’m almost positive the Grimtotem has Mages. I know for a fact they have several types of Rogue.

Crouching tiger hidden mechano strider.

My stance seems to be on a dying side sadly. I like Class Race restrictions. I like Races that can be specific classes other races can’t.

Maybe it’s just the classic rpg in me. I like knowing if I need a Druid I go for a Night Elf. If I need a Paladin i go for a Human. If I need a Priest i’m at the Exodar.

Or if i’m on Horde and I need a druid I know the Tauren are there. The idea of Tauren mages is just so awkward to their society.

I like race/class restrictions too so you’re not alone.

Ye, if Vulpera can be dk, even though they weren’t around during wrath.
Then may as well remove restrictions for classes.

Allied Race DKs are explained as Bolvar and the DKs raising fallen heroes of the 4th war.

Why the factions let them do that is anyones guess.

Arthas didn’t raise vulpera or any of the 4th generation DKs
