So I may have said that I was looking to roll up a Tauren Druid for Classic. However, I’m kind of second-guessing myself on that. Originally I thought maybe I’d want to play a Hunter, and decided not after seeing that stat-wise Tauren racials don’t really benefit the class that much so it’d be kind of a waste. Now I’m considering it again, slightly 'cause I’m a little concerned if I’d do well as a Druid but also because I’d like to hear some second opinions that might argue otherwise if Hunter is just as worth pursuing as a Tauren?
You won’t want to based on recent developments, atleast for pvp.
You shouldn’t pick race and class combos just because their synergies the best. You should just pick race and class combos from what looks the most fun.
tauren might actually be bis for hunter now that scatter/trap share a DR
War stomp/trap will be strong
Tauren is a fine choice for hunter if you want one. Stomp is useful practically anywhere, and more health is never a bad thing.
Ignore starting stats for races, they are trivial and have little to no impact on the game, racials are far more important but even then, don’t put too much emphasis on them.
With a druid, keep in mind that at level 60, most raid groups will expect you to go Resto, so if you don’t want to heal end game, thats a factor for sure.
With hunter, I have not played the beta myself, but the people I know who have say that hunters are broken right now, and not in a good way. I wouldn’t roll a hunter until they iron out the bugs, but that is just me.
Go with Tauren Rogue.
15 feet melee range with leeway means you don’t have dead zone if both are moving.
Great choice for pvp these days.
tauren melee hunter
Play whatever you want and stop worrying about racials.
I vote Tauren because they’re so gosh darn cute.
Mained tauren Hunter in classic and it was OK, biggest problem I found was that they’re a pita in confined spaces (caves/tunnels/platforms etc) - due to the size of the character model and the increased deadzone radius its harder to get enough distance between you and your target to shoot.
i dont think thats true i think they have since clarified this and the tauren dead zone is just 2 yards further which actually reduces their effective range zone by 2 yards. for instance if normal range is from 6 yd to 30 yd, tauren would be 8 yd to 30yd is my understanding…
i was strongly thinking of playing hunter again since it is what i mained back in vanilla, but with seeing how they are on beta and some of the game play not being how i remember it (which i could be wrong), now i’m second guessing it
No harm in comparing, say, a troll hunter with a tauren (in particular how dead zone and melee zone behave) and seeing which you prefer. You could do this on the stress test or the first day of live.
Works both ways.
Their shoot range is also extended
If you want to go leatherworking, no better starting zone than Mulgore: You’ll max out skinning by going from point A to B. You’ll also max out fishing/cooking, with the beautiful Stone Bull lake right there at the quest hub.
And, if you want a wolf pet, the level 10 wolf has Bite rank 2. Mulgore also offers the only Green ranged weapon upgrade for a starting zone, by killing the rare wolf that circles Thunder Bluff, and gives the quest when you loot him.
If you want Engineering, Mulgore is NOT the best place, as the mines would be few, compared to Durotar. Mulgore is also, to me, a very pretty zone, with cool music, and a Native American motif (if you’re into that, like me).
I tend to look at how and where a character starts, as that’s when you’re at your weakest, and needing to craft a lot.
That’s the thing, I heard is does NOT impact ranged distance. So ranged would be the same just your melee is 2yd larger so your effected ranged ability zone is actually 2 yards smaller. Just what I was reading in other posts
A tauren hunter is a fine choice if people want to play a tauren hunter i have one and it actually seems way better than my other hunter problably because ive played it more and racials don’t matter just play what you want to play
Uses his first post to necro a 9 nine month thread.
Troll for pve orc for pvp. If you only care about being a big tauren then go tauren but orc is way to good to ignore for pvp.
