Having hopes and the reality of a situation are different things. The Taunka, per Exploring Northrend, are currently completely fine with just working with the Horde.
Now since were getting the Earthen as a neutral allied race, circumstances could see a group of Taunka deciding to open the door to the Alliance. However its equally possible for them to just be a Horde allied race or even a customization skin.
Its all up to Blizzard and how they want to go about things… which is apparently giving the Horde playable Dwarves before the like of Ogres or Forest Trolls.
They feel more like a possible customization option. Though we do have 4 playable elves…
Ive been an advocate for Taunka as an Allied Race since the system came into existance. I even started and still have a thread going where people can voice their support (or criticisms) for the race in the general forums.
From what I remember it was stated thw Taunka still dony really mingle with those outside the Horde. So if they were added, theyd likely be a Horde race.
Alliance could get their counterpart the Frostborne Dwarves, or even another native species.
Taunka should without question be Horde and Horde only. Frost Dwarves would be an obvious choice for the Alliance. Whether that was as an AR or a customization option. I’d prefer customization. I’d say Tuskarr but i have a feeling Tuskarr are going to be a playable race before the end of Dragonflight and probably neutral even though i really don’t like neutral races.
The only other Northrend races i could see being playable would be Drakkari Trolls and Vrykul.
I’ve never understood the calls for Alliance Sethrak. The Devoted and Vulpera worked together with no qualms and the Faithless hate everyone.
If the Sethrak were to become playable, I could see them as Horde or neutral. The Devoted joining the Horde would really help showcase an united Zandalar under one banner. Alliance wise maybe a different group of Sethrak or former Faithless banding together, that join after a series of events.
To be fair, that’s 4 playable elves split across 2 model skeletons. So far, I’m pretty sure all 3 Dwarves use the same skeleton as base Dwarves, and the Frostborn would be no different unless they received some heavy modifications like the Goblins did in Cata.
Entirely agree! I get the want for a more beastial race in the Alliance, but the story still needs to make sense. On top of the Devoted improving relations with both the Vulpera and Zandalari, tactically it would mean doom for them essentially. Isolated and surrounded by enemies on a small Island.
Furbolg would be a good one for Alliance. But speaking for just TWW where we are in Northrend, it’d probably be Frostborne- maybe Tuskarr? or Vrykul. Those two sound more neutral though.
At this point in the game I am just really hoping they add all these old allies that have been in the factions for ages. Like the Taunka, Ogres, Furbolg, Frostborne Dwarves, Jinyu/Ankoan, Forest Trolls and so on.
Revisiting these old lands where they live is the most opportune time to do so.
That is a weird one, especially as Blizzard hyped them as being WoW’s first playable demons and then outside of a fel tinted Gift of the Naaru, the game just treats them as Draenei.
