Sure by definition “BuT It’S OuT In ZeE WuRld Bro U St00ped” … it’s insanely boring… 40 man raids doing a love dance holding each others hands. Hell there are even people AFK farming in the grave yards that don’t get touched like some kind of unspoken rule. One side rushes in kills 10 people runs back & reforms! Other side rushes in kills 10 people runs back reforms! Not sure about your servers but this is what I experienced the two times I joined & I immediately flew out after 10 minutes of this snorefest.
I’m not even good at PvP & I think this is hot mess garbage.

It’s certainly not a great experience for me as a rogue. I’ve mostly just watched and skirmished on the edges, since I die in an instant if I wade in anywhere near to the epicenter of the carnage.
I did gank my first 2 people of Classic though. A filthy dwarf and pathetic little gnome, dead at my hands! I even ate one of them! Muahahahaha!

Glad you had fun ganking! I do miss that playing rogue in vanilla. It’s not fun for any class other than a mage at this point. Honestly I remember these battles & they were just all out total zerg fests that took over the entire town. No man, troll or gnome left alive. That was real open world pvp.
This… this is just casual honor farming dumbed down.
TM or SS gets over ran? Fly to Arathi reform & attack.
Also switch up the scenery.

From what I’ve seen, groups don’t bother with dominating the towns because they’re afraid of DHKs, and from what I understand, DHKs weren’t in the game at this point (with honor but without BGs) in vanilla.

Ah true forgot about those…but at least over run the GY don’t let AFK people just stand there… that erked me the most. Saw about eight people sitting there for about thirty minutes… obviously abusing the honor system.

If you are doing 40-man raids for TM vs. SS, you probably aren’t there to farm honor for rank. What you are doing is wpvp (with even less honor than a BG). It can be lots of fun if the raid leader knows what he/she is doing.
Played vanilla hardcore like it was my job & no it was not like this semi care bear crap you’re calling world pvp. Not a chance in hell would we let people AFK farm in GYs.
Bg’s aren’t out yet… so yea they are honor farming & if they aren’t doing it there they are just camping FPs which in itself is meh but not as bad as this trash.

Cool story bro. We took over Tarren Mill all the time. Killed the entire town and made campfires. People still AFK farmed - yes, we kicked them but it was still a thing. I’ve been playing since day 1. It was exactly the same as it is now.

Oh okay. So what’s the definition of world pvp then?
Top 4 things seen in big open world PvP fights:
- Mages running in, casting something then iceblocking.
- Paladins running in, casting something for some reason and then bubbling > running away.
- Mages using rank 1 Blizzard to catch people in the death zone.
- Hunters poking safely the entire time. (warlocks/SPs with their dots are pretty good at this too; ele shamans sometimes risking CL.
It’s not always bad, and I’ve had some fun skirmishes, but I’m gonna agree that BGs need to come out. And no, it won’t be ‘just as bad’ as the contrarians like to say. BGs have issues, but literally every gaming mechanic does, so it’s a matter of having actual vanilla content in vanilla for me at this point.

The foundation is the same. The play style is not.

Faerlina: its rampant, obvious, admitted honor farming.
The first yell you hear, each side…“no dont overextend, stay near tower whole time” or some variation thereof when a passerby actually mistakes it for a “battle”
The other thing you hear is: “please whisper me for invite” because the mob doesn’t want you leeching and the more in both sides, the merrier.
