Targeting and Strafing bug

Has it been brought up to blizz that targeting something, then holding down right click, and strafing is broken?
Your character goes from Actually turning their head and shoulders to face the direction your camera is pointed (while right clicking), to just jerking around robotic like.

And another side bug is holding down right click and spamming A and D (together) at the same time is BUGGY as heck.

You should get video evidence.

When I strafe, if I just strafe it turns the characters head in that direction and when I finish it turns back to straight ahead.

If I strafe with the right mouse button down, they keep facing the strafed direction until I release the right mouse button.

If I hit left and right strafe at once, I stay still, except for a little movement due to not hitting both buttons at perfectly the same time.

target something and then right click strafe

All the above was with a target. Heads do not track their targets in Classic.

I was strafing last night while I practiced kiting wolves and boar in Elwynn in the stress test on a mage.

Animations looked fine to me.

Whoa Really?? When did they start tracking? I didnt think the head would stop tracking camera direction entirely once something was targeted.

Ok one sec getting a video of it.

Finding this clip answers my question though.

That’s what always happened.

Heads in BfA track targets looking up and down and turning to look at it.

In Classic, your character’s head always faced body-forward if you weren’t moving the camera. And if you were, it tracked the camera direction.

Note, this has nothing to do with having a target. Esfand, in usual form, is making a mistake.

Its doing the (no right click strafing animation) while right click strafing with something targeted.

That’s what Vanilla did. Vanilla never made your head turn differently from having a target to not having a target. It’s all about your right click direction steering.

Ok, I think I got it. It sometimes happens for me and sometimes doesn’t

This is actually backwards.

It’s “broken” that when you don’t have a target, and don’t hold down your right mouse button, your head faces camera forward, instead of body forward. When strafing with only the strafe button pressed, you should face body-forward.

Yeah that. So it is wrong then?

The bit that Esfand said is wrong, is right, and the bit that Esfand said is right, is wrong.

When you strafe, without holding down the button, your head should follow your body’s direction, not the facing, with or without a target.

The without a target strafe, that has your head face camera forward, as far as I remember it, is wrong.

but when you have something targeted AND you are holding down right click then strafe. It shows the animation as if you werent holding down right click and hitting q or e

4 Scenarios:

Target Right Mouse Head Intended Head Actual
Yes Yes Follow Camera Follow Body
Yes No Follow Body Follow Body
No Yes Follow Camera Follow Camera
No No Follow Body Follow Camera

The last bit is wrong, as far as I remember strafing in Vanilla.

EDIT: Additionally, if you were really silly with your strafing, you could actually moonwalk strafe by strafing back and forth with rapid changes.

The top one isnt how it works in game though.
Its following body when you have something targeted with right click held down.

Hmm. So its broken in two ways. Sounds like someone mixed up their conditionals. I’ll edit.

Fixed the table.

Here I uploaded this to show you.
