Target of Target (tanks) - help please.

Hey guys,

Is there any /console - command that I can do to show the target of target buff/debuffs?

Like for example.. If the tank is targeting the boss And I'm targeting the tank.. I see the Boss frame without buffs on the tank's target.

I saw Elvui does that.. but is there anyway I could do that without using Elvui?

Please... thanks.
Honestly, despite the inevitable post that Elvenbane will put up claiming that ElvUI makes you fat, rots your teeth, and will cause your CPU to process math backwards, the simplest way to get what you want would be to install ElvUI and then turn off absolutely everything except the Unit Frames module.

Those turned off modules don't cost you one CPU cycle, they don't take up much memory, at least in terms of modern PCs, and you may find that there's some other aspect of your UI that you want to change later, in which case it's just a matter of activating that module and typing /reload.

There's a lot of unjustified "don't use ElvUI" sentiment out there.

My advice is that if you see something in ElvUI that you like, just get ElvUI. It's not like you have to use any of it that you don't want to.

If you have issues with how to do that "shutting off modules" thing, contact me in-game, I'll get you in my discord channel, and I'll walk you though it.

I use ElvUI for unit frames.

That said, there are other options such as...
Z-Perl
Pitbull Unit Frames
Shadowed Unit Frames
etc.

but I prefer ElvUI.

The ToT Debuffs are set to display debuffs for friendly units only, and doesn't have any buff frames.

You might try setting
/run SHOW_CASTABLE_DEBUFFS = "0"
But I don't know if that will have any side effects (/reload to clear).

It astonishes me how many people come here and say "I want that thing that ElvUI does but I don't want to use ElvUI."

Dude relax.

This is not an Elvui "thing" actually.

I just see it with Elvui only... Targets of target buff was in the game in Wotlk and MOP by default I remember that

I never said it was exclusively an ElvUI thing.

But if you'll search these boards you'll probably find fifty people who have come here to day "I want something like what ElvUI does but I don't want to use ElvUI" - and I have very little understanding of why?

It's not going to slow your computer down, it's well maintained, it's very modular, it's very extendable, it doesn't cause you to gain weight, it won't cause your hair to fall out, and as far as I know it won't do any more to keep you away from women than will simply playing WoW in the first place.

Because maybe blizzard should listen and add those things by default?

For exmaple.. why do I need to download "moveEverything" addon just to move whatever thing on my screen?

There should be an option by default to allow me to do that.. not an addon..

There are a lot of simple things that doesn't need an addon.. but still..
Like for example do you remember the Mail thing? they actually implemented it by default we used to download an addon just for that Auto loot button in the mailbox.
Not everyone wants the same thing, Edi.

And MoveEverything is a bit buggy.

It works for many things, but not everything flawlessly.

I don't use it.

ElvUI allows me to move virtually everything.

I have some custom code in my own addon that modifies the rest of the UI that I find needs altering.

Even if you got a UI change that MOST people wanted, it wouldn't likely be something everyone could use.

There's a crap ton of color coding in the default UI that I flat cannot see (the "accessibility" color wheel changes don't do much for me).

I write modifications to the default UI to capture that color-coded information and present it in other ways (as Blizzard should have done in the first place).

ElvUI and a few other "nearly complete UI replacement" addons offer alternatives that can themselves be tweaked.

I lasted about four days with the vanilla UI 2 weeks into first release in 2004 before I started modding it. It's just awful as written and g-d bless Blizzard for allowing us to both say so and provide alternatives.
