I was wondering what you all thought were the best solo classes. Things I’m looking for.
Not super easy to gank. Can do aoe pulls… i.e. doesnt freak out if 4-6 mobs get pulled. Not DH, because I simply don’t want one. Can kill elite mobs. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Thank you.
It would be nice if the class can also generally do pvp, and pve both decently at like a mid level of competition. I’ll never be an elite player.

Yeah, if you just want to solo elites, BDK is fine. Any tank spec can probably do that.
Regarding OP’s wanting a class that can PvP, DKs can PvP. Frost and UH are still pretty good. Blood just got nerfed again and not widely played in competitive PvP, though is not bad in World PvP.
Paladin and Druid are also good versatile classes that can do it all.
Frost DK fits the bill in my opinion. Lots of cleave damage and very tanky. As for PvP and PVE they are doing well. It is relatively straight forward, but has some nice nuance to the play style and a couple of different options depending on what you like.
Unholy is also doing well in both areas, so you have two decent specs, and a third if you like tanking (though I know next to nothing about Blood).
I am just getting back into WoW also and miles behind most players.
Retribution Paladin is great for solo content as you can pull big mobs, pop wings and AOE for massive numbers. Self healing is decent, bubble for ‘oh crap’ moments and you have access to healing and a tanking off-spec. Ret paladins are really fun in BG’s but you get focused first in Arena!
However, those light bringers are not for everyone…
Frost is pretty good. Good cleave damage, decently tanky and can chew through solo content with ease given you have Deathstrike. Cannot comment on PvP as I haven’t done that on my DK yet. But the big nerf to self-healing will hurt especially against physical damage where you don’t have AMS and AMZ equivalents.
I’m a little late here, but I just wanted to stop by and say, despite nerfs the Death Knight class has always been…reliable numbers wise, at 120 with maybe…420 ilvl you can probably solo most elites in the world. And before 120 you’ll do just fine.
I’m capped for Wotlk content and despite the high damage of some NPCs I almost always pull through and can tank a elite or two if a ranged dps happen to pull aggro from the tank. It’s a class with decent flavor, and enslave undead is a very fun ability. I think you’ll end up enjoying it more than paladins or warriors.
