Tanks - Which BfA Dungeon is the Least Fun?

Well, are you assuming you have a rogue or not. That changes the route quite a bit.

Drez.

I usually assume no rogue, and try to adjust if we have one. I watched a couple Youtube videos where they skip a lot of trash in the beginning and middle and pull everything around the 3rd boss. It sounds like that trash is easier than the cancer pulls at the beginning.

Volkal is the worst when you have DPS who do not know how to coordinate burning the three totems at the same time, not matter how many times you tell them.

5+ minute Volkal fights are not fun.

Brutal Backhand. The guy faces in a direction and knocks back any players standing in a cone in front of him. Move.

If tanking, you also have to deal with his throw. The throw drops you onto one of the ranged players, so they should be mindful of their positioning.

all of them.

No rogue, alright. Pull the three packs at the start. Your choice to do all three or bit by bit, keep in mind the rogues jump behind you and put on a debuff+hit you in the back, the big guys smack you around, dogs enrage, and there’s a single rifleman who doesn’t move.

Up the stairs, mount up. Pull the pack on the right that is overlooking the edge, run through it all the way to behind where the bird spawns. Stand on the half-boat so the mobs come out in the open, fight them there. Reaping spawns now.

Your choice of dealing with reaping alone, or pulling it into the next pack (which spawns the boss). Keep in mind, this pack has dogs that enrage, and multiple thugs that throw you. If the thugs start to hit you too hard and you run out of SotR charges, go over to a corner area. There’s some bones lying on the far corner, opposite the bridge you go across later. If you walk across them, the mobs run around, and when they get close to you, you can hop back over. Rinse repeat, it’s an infinite kiting loop. Good for raging and necrotic, as these mobs cannot be slowed and kited.

Spawns the boss, fight the boss, kill the boss. Use your first lust here. Light of the Protector is busted on tyrannical for saving people from the 1-2 combo of shot-poison

Go down, pull the guy, drag him across the bridge and kill him as you walk. Now, pull the few hostile mobs to your right, on the porch of the building. Your choice of pulling yellows with them or not. Do not pull the rat trapper with this pull, Move it off to the right side, to a little overlook area made of wood. Fight it there, interrupt the sea swell and stun/dodge the cutting dash.

Now, depends on the week. If you have beer week, wait, don’t spawn it yet. Come back later, when you’re ready to pull the boss. If you have dog, you either need a stealther to run it, or to pull it. If you need to pull it, you’re going to skip a lot of trash later. If it’s brawl week, wait, come back before you pull the boss, skip it for now.

Jump down off that right wood platform where you pulled the porch-pack, so you’re behind the building. Walk out in front of the building, pull the monkey hanging off it as you go, into the pack to your left with the caster. Kill that pack on it’s own. Turn around, grab the yellow non-elites next to the boss. Now, danger time.

if you got brawl, drinking, or dog with a stealther, pull the pack directly in front of you, as if you were going towards the arena. To keep it safe, you can pull only 1-2 packs at a time. If you want to get crazy, pull both packs that are right there without a giant, and pull them back into the patrol with 2 casters in it. Gather, aoe stun, interrupt frost blast, kite when needed. Dps need to watch out for blind rages and Going Banannas!. Reaping spawns. Kill reaping on it’s own, or pull the giant into it.

Keep going, pull the two packs there, one standing still before the giant that guards the entrance to the arena, the second off to the right, in front of the Bridge to Harlan. One at a time, or together. Wait for the pat, have your stelther go by the giant and start the Pig RP (if you don’t have one, just pull the giant back towards the council and have the healer run through and start the RP. Do not pull the patrol)

If you got dogs and do not have a stealther, don’t do any of that. Pull the patrol on the left with the two casters, and run behind the building. Pull the packs in that area near the bottom of the stairs, so it’s clean straight from Council of captains ->behind the far left side -> arena. Start the pig RP.

Now, with either route, lust should be up. Backtrack, do the event, spawn the council, fight the council. Lust and kill. Keep in mind, LotP is great for quickly healing someone hit by the Shot, stand still for the whirling blades, get in good brews/get out of bad brews.

Now, run to Harlan, across the bridge. Pull the two mobs at the end+the pack to the immediate right. Time it so your pull starts as the horse patrol is just starting to walk away. Don’t kick Painful Motivation.

Pull the horse pack, run up to Harlan skipping the big pack in front of him. Hug the cannons, and you’ll get by fine. If you have a lock, he can gate from the bridge-Harlan and skip all the trash in the area. Do this.

Kill Harlan, not a hard fight just a long one. Start in one corner of his “wooden overlook” on the far side, when cannon fire comes out the person/people stutter step it out to the direction of where Harlan starts from, and go to the other corner. Stack up. Repeat until dead.

Run back across the bridge (if you used a lock gate, use it again) and go to shark boss. Grab the pig, start the RP for turtle boi. Keep in mind he is about 2-3% trash unless it’s changed. Pull trash so you’re just short of him getting you to 100%. You want to kill the turtle and be around 98-99% trash. Pull the boss, lust, nuke him, pull the last bit of %, win.

That’s the one I was referring to. So I’ve been playing with people that have no environmental awareness.

I wonder why nobody is playing this game anymore.

I’m pretty sure that statement has an objectively false pre-conceived notion.

You can tell yourself that if it makes you feel better.

Waycrest comes with a few headaches like the halls on sanguine, or non-tank issues like having a bad healer on tyrannical sisters or slow dps on the kraken in siege. But none of them are hard to tank outside my hatred for necrotic as a prot war, though I do dislike underrot.

Waycrest Manor all the time. 4 different possible starting paths, closed in corridors make seeing things difficult at times, and often times dps will stay at max range and end up pulling extra mobs that they can’t see because of the closed-in space. Or they’ll run into a room and pull a bunch of mobs they didn’t notice were there.

I’ve had the worst experiences in WCM, more so than any other dungeon.

The trash mobs in Freehold that toss you around suck a lot, too. Super annoying mechanic overall.

well thats just rude.

Wow, Freehold might be the best dungeon in the game, with Atal and Motherload coming in pretty close.

Shrine of the Storm and King’s Rest are horrible dungeons; easily +4 harder than their peers at the same M+ level.

King rest is #1 It’s not fun, no one likes it, no one wants to run it, it’s wildly over tuned, linear, and leaves no room for innovation with pulls. Just an awful experience.

Temple is similar, but a lot easier. Linear and boring.

Motherlode is also awful, too much trash, overtuned mobbs, not fun.

Tol Dagor for me. I hate doing that place without a rogue.

I too main a paladin tank! I personally find Freehold the most fun dungeon in the game right now; followed pretty closely by shrine of the storm.

My least favorites are king rest; the trash and bosses are over tuned once you reach the 18-22+ area; and second least favorite would be a tie between motherlode/boralus. I don’t like the spotter cheese of boralus, and i don’t like that theres 100x more trash than required percentage in motherlode making skips mandatory.

Objectively, Shrine is the “worst” dungeon.

That said, a halfway decent group who actually understands the mechanics of trash and bosses and does a halfway decent job at countering them while not sucking at doing damage makes them all more or less the same (or objectively harder if they suck).
