Without downloading mythic dungeon tools, the ingame map should come with a suggested path that can be followed by newbie tanks. The packs that are highlighted in the map would show a glow on the physical ingame models, so tanks don’t even need to reopen the map to know which pack comes next.
This could be customizable, so players could plan their own routes or even allow routes to be downloaded, and the appropriate mobs would receive the glow.
You could also turn it off altogether if you feel it’s too hand-holdy.

That is very true. Calculating the % is a very stupid and unnecessary part of tank’s job.
In M+ dungeon, there should be reduced number of trash on the main path. And every mob should be killed to get to 100%.
Or the percentage requirement/indication should simply be removed. A group to clean every trash to unlock last boss.
It’s an M+ we expect you to know what you’re doing when you say you’re going to tank. You should know the way to go. You don’t have to download anything to do it.
Besides the count will change based on how much gets butt-pulled.
This is all part of the challenge.
Keystone guru has a lot of information on what to pull.

A failure of modern warcraft

Actually no. It should be as easy to follow as it is for DPS to follow the tank around.
If tanks want to plan out a more advanced route, that’s a different story and perfectly fair.

Eh?
I don’t see a need for this cause:
-
When you’re new and tanking Heroics/M0 routes don’t matter cause no pct.
-
When you graduate to +2-4s there is usually ample time to get a feel of ‘how much to pull’ and time left over to understand routes. If you have a skilled group this could be even in the 5-8s.
-
Lastly I tank and my god the amount of dissonance I have over pulls annoys me because I’ve been told off but also praised for the exact same pull. E.G: Told that the big boi + casters in CoT start is ‘sabotaging the party’ but 95% of keys I’ve done go fine on it. I’ve did a 3-4 pack pull after second boss in Grim Batol and people said ‘yep this is the way’ and the same pull got ‘WTF?? Are you dumb’ both in a +7.

I sure hope you don’t hire people in the real world. Knowing your job is a “failure” LOL.

You know these paths are player picked right? Meaning someone had to explore and do all the guess work. Meaning “newbie” tanks can do the exact same thing.
Took me about 5-6 runs of Dawnbreaker to figure out my proper pathing while tanking to get the right amount of mob %
I don’t have the MDT addon and i do just fine and do the routes. Why can’t others?
Same story. You’re given plenty of mobs so you can pick and choose what you want to go for routes.
CoT, some times I pull the first 2 casters and pull them into the next 4, other times I do not. It all entirely depends on which tank i’m using and who i have in my group.

You’re free to turn it off if you want to explore your own routes. That’s why there’s no downside to this suggestion.

Just need levels that have no pixel perfect shortcuts or wait for patrols to pass.
Why even have anything besides a singular hallway with only the exact amount of mobs needed if the game is just going to tell you where to go and what to pull?
Stop asking for Blizzard to hold your hand. Go out and get the experience. If you want to know the routes ahead of time, get the addon (its what youre asking for anyway)

A challenge no other role has to worry about
thus why there’s so few tanks
congrats

It’s crazy how space-time works. There was a tank shortage for 12 years and we had no idea why. It made zero sense. Then Legion came out and it’s like oooooooooh, damn, obviously this has been sending bad vibes throughout the universe in all directions across all dimensions.
Count is not a significant challenge. Tanks get plenty of help with it (from the roles that apparently don’t have to worry about it lol). It has nothing to do with the tank shortage.

Because that wouldn’t be fun, so I’d rather have my idea implemented than a singular hallway of mobs.
I think you should worry about your own fun, brother.

Only if youre a bad player. As a DPS i need to know the route as well, know which mobs are about to be pulled together, which mob needs focused, CC’d and where i spend my interreupts.

If people were civil in M+, a simple “which path do I go?” asked to the group would suffice. Unfortunately that sort of communication says to the group “I don’t know what I’m doing” so people are more likely to leave.

All we really need is to have follower dungeons for each season that have a percent count for the corresponding keystone dungeon.

MDT already does this
If Blizzaed showed you the exact mobs to pull in the exact order, would you have any reason to venture away from that path? No. Youd follow that straight line essentially turning it into a straight hallway.
But this is never going to happen. Why? Because half the challenge of m+ is getting the right amount of body count. Different mobs have different counts which means you can take.multiple routes. As difficulties go up, routes change.
Blizzard isnt going to issue a challenge and give you the answer on the back
it’s called personal experience. You people seem to enjoy spamming the same dungeons over and over and over until the next season you would think by the third time in there you would already have a trip mapped out in your mind.

When I tanked in Shadowlands I just pulled whatever and got a feel for what was actually needed after a few runs. Was it the MDI route? Probably not. Do people give a damn as long as you keep moving and aren’t killing 139% Trash? Also probably not.
A few extra % is preferrable to having to backtrack because you ended at 98%. You can look up routes if you want to be safe, but it is very much something you can just do naturally too.
No Keys that give actual rewards are tuned so tightly that failure would be the tanks fault for pulling 1 or 2 more groups than is ideal. Sure it doesn’t help, but if that’s the dealbreaker, the group probably wiped twice already.
