Yes, this is my point. When you have people still learning, don’t just get angry, explain things.
As the healer, I’m trying to keep the DPS alive, and if you adjust minimally to accommodate learners it’s helpful to me. That doesn’t mean I’m blaming you for dps standing in frontals, just that we could work together and make the dungeon less stressful for everyone.
Why does it fall on me to explain things? And when I do explain things, they call me (and by me I am talking about the tank or healer explaining things) out of my name and say to worry about me and not them.
Because the OP is calling out tanks, telling them it is their responsibility to slow down and go at the pace of the DPS who are “struggling” to understand not to “stand in fire,” even though they have been told multiple times that fire is bad. Then you have others saying that to expect people to research fights for content they are progressing is “extreme to set an obligation that could essentially kill the fun of the game for them.” Sorry, when you are at the 11-15 level and you still don’t know the fights, the problem is you - not the tank going to fast (which isn’t actually fast, it is the normal pace tanks go in that content). It’s basically like telling Formula 1 drivers to slow down for the new guy because he doesn’t have a clue what he is doing. No thanks, I’ll reset my key and find someone who actually knows the fights.
I’m the OP, I switched characters, and I think you should slow down when you’re in struggling groups. Why does that make you cranky? Are healers not allowed to ask you to consider us?
The fact that you took the time to do that, you got issues, this is a game and nothing more, you need to get over yourself. I may do not the best dps but that does not mean im being carried. Being carried is sitting at the gate while someone clears it for you. I put in countless hours weekly running this stuff and I am getting better. By your reasoning if theres 6 hunters in a raid, 4 of em are being carried,no matter what their dps is. You need to learn what being carried is and stop hiding behind a low level toon. But it dont matter,I can already tell you just wanna argue over stupid stuff.
It took all of 3 seconds. Go to warcraft logs, put in your name, search.
Nah, if there are 6 hunters in the raid, all at 425 ilvl, and all doing 60k DPS, they are all doing their part. If there are 6 hunters in the raid, all at 425 ilvl, and 5 of them are doing 60k DPS and 1 of them is doing 30k DPS, that 1 doing 30k DPS is being carried (especially if the tanks are beating them in damage done.)
Getting carried has nothing to do with sitting at the portal while other people do the work for you. Sorry your friends/guildmates couldn’t be straight with you and you had to hear this from a stranger.
Half your day? Most videos are 5-15 minutes at most, videos you could watch while taking a dump. You also have written guides that take all of 2-3 minutes to get through.
Are you smoking something? Those videos tell you which things do a lot of damage, that is why those videos exist. Also, if you aren’t familiar with a fight, WHY ARE YOU IN AN 11?
It’s not a matter of “good” - it is a matter of doing the least amount of work to understand the mechanics of the instance you are planning to run with others. You expect tanks and heals to know the mechanics, you should know them too. Those “limitations” are self inflicted because you can’t be bothered to “waste half your day watching videos or reading guides.”
That’s the problem. You are calling out tanks instead of expecting better from your DPS, when you see first hand that it is the DPS that are the problem. **Edit - that’s not fair. The problems are people, not just DPS, who go into 11-15 keys expecting to be given a “5 second explanation” instead of doing their own research and/or learning the fights in lower keys. /**Edit/ You need to refocus your attention to the people who are causing the issues. Not the people doing their job.
What good does it do me to demand people know things they don’t know? None. What good does it do me to make people feel bad for being learners? None. What good does it do you to be angry about people not meeting your expectations? None.
A better analogy might be if you’re Lebron, and you join a newly-formed basketball team that’s still figuring things out. If you just act like a douche and do your own thing, it’s unlikely your team is going to achieve anything. At a minimum, you’d be a part of the problem in your team.
Of course, even that changed analogy is a bit silly. The idea that a tank or healer in a +11 pug is analogous to F1 drivers or any professional is just straight up dodo bird material. You’re all at the same level.
Which begs the question of course - isn’t there something you could do to ensure that you only invite people into your +13 who HAVE watched the videos, or read the guides you consider a bare minimum? Why are you running with people who might not have, then getting mad at them? How would they even know they don’t know something they don’t know? Is yelling at this Hunter in this pug here somehow magically going to translate to the Warrior in the next pug?
So, let’s be real. 11-14 is very low and you’ll be out of there as soon as your character is geared enough to do heroic which is much more efficient for when crests. Consider running a full DPS build as the healer to make dungeons faster.
There are people who play tanks for selfish reasons. They’re controlling individuals that only care about their own progress speed. You can start the next dungeon with a different person if you don’t like the tank you have. As a matter of fact, just leave if they’re chain pulling with 2 people dead.
