Tanks in PvP are like strange attractors. Add a healer, and suddenly, DPS are stuck to them like glue wondering why nothing is happening.
I am curious if anyone runs one in Arenas, however.
Prot pally can do work in 2s right now but this is in low level PvP. Irrelevant.
I think they could have a place in pvp if blizzard ever tried to balance them in pvp
They’d make sense if they made a game mode for it but currently they just run around like thick meat shields that don’t do a whole lot and you can just ignore them
Aside from prot pallies which can go wild
i would say that a good tank in pvp is a pain to deal with
put them at a defensive point or have them carry a flag would be a good idea
The role of the tank spec is to also manage incoming damage. Somebody shouldn’t have the spec that they play and possibly enjoy most neutered because of PvP. PvP ruins the PvE aspect of this game. Always has an always will. They need to just separate PvP and PvE actions for abilities like they have done with Colossus Smash.
Healers have no place in PVP. It’s time to accept it and move on. Everyone should be forced into a DPS spec when going into a BG or Arena.
For the life of me I never understood why Blizzard never followed in other MMO footsteps when it came to tanks in pvp. Those MMOs made it so that if you taunt a target, that target would deal 50% less damage to anyone but the tank who is taunted them for x seconds.
This gave tanks considerable utility in PvP, and would be something I’d be interested in seeing happen here.
did Eso did something like this when a tank taunt that player had a debuff that did 20-50% less damage for 20 sec?
My Blood DK that is staying alive and distracting you while my team closes in for the kill disagrees with you.
OP must not be too happy with those darn Vengeance DHs leaping across the map with the flag.
Becoming an annoying target quickly gains agro. Have to be smarter in pvp, but it’s still possible to grab attention.
Maybe they might, never played ESO much myself. I did play Warhammer Online which had that as a mechanic. Tank’s taunts made it so another player did less damage unless they attacked the tank a couple times to get rid of the debuff. Warhammer was a lot more pvp focused and also had collision in pvp which made tanks a bit more valuable.

For those rare times where people actually defend a base instead of capping and running, tanks are awesome.
The only thing I accept is how stupid this is. /shrugs/ All specs have a place in pvp whether you like it or not. So man up and deal with it buddy. xD Cause nothing is gonna change that.
Tanks are perfect on the defense side of pvp. Did a tank kicked your butt in pvp thus why you made this thread?
I loved pvp in Warhammer… stunties chargin at me n my boyz. Find out dey did dat Black Orks are da biggest and tuffest.
everquest 2 had taunts actually lock target for some seconds to the taunting tank. there were AoE taunts too. it was a lot of fun but i didny get to do it much. Warhammer onlines implementation mentioned abovr worked well too, I forgot about that. WoW has taunt PVP tank talents you can take but not default taunt PVP functionality vs players.
They already do this for PvP changes. You can easily look at patch notes and see the “in PvP combat” part of any patch note that was changed due to PvP.
I cannot believe people on GD still whine about PvP affecting PvE when PvP changes haven’t affected PvE in years.
Arena, no they do not. RBG’s and regular BG’s yes. Simple as that.
