Players on my Server.
Yes you’re a minority but it doesn’t mean that everything and everyone has to run after your bell and everything needs to happen whenever you snap, just because you won’t be replaced easily. Tanks doing this usually end up on my ignore list with the usual crap talk before ignoring is actually happening anyways.
If you think about it Tanks are the most impatient and unfriendly players around. I’ve never seen DPS or heck even Healer complaining about anything it’s always the tanks. Yes Opinions and experience differ, but to me it seems like because of Tanks being a minority on Classic they also think they have the right to behave like a complete a$$hole and everything needs to happen how they want it.

Odd most of the tanks we have run with have been chill and patient, honestly cant remember the last rager in my groups. What server are you on?

Anecdotal evidence means very little, I’m afraid. Some tanks are jerks, most are not. You’ve had a string of bad luck. But if it’s THAT bad all the time, it might not always be the tanks…

Most of the tanks I’ve played with were pretty cool. Almost all of them were pugs, so I got a vast assortment of complete strangers. In my experience it was the dps players who were impatient or rude. Even still that was rare. Seems like no one wants to be on blacklists these days, not that I really have one.

Might be usually i am calm during an dungeon run unless I need something for a quest or something but usually it ends up my group going against eachother because of the entitlement of our tank as i can always watch it from both side of the conversation.
Last Time our Tank left and the group fell apart because our shaman didn’t want to use WF because he couldn’t hold threat with almost half-bis MC gear and fury gear it was on a DM Tribute run and the shaman didn’t want to risk pulling.
I mean if you are losing control it’s basically your job to get control back into it again of course it shouldn’t happen in the first case but for me example playing a Warlock it’s basically roulette if i get shadowbolt crits you got to run back and taunt it off as I don’t have any spell to retreat the threat.
But that’s just one example of manys i’ve engaged.
The thing I noticed in Vanilla all the way up until about Cata was that tanks and healers thought they were gods simply for playing roles that had less representation than DPS. It is what it is. It’s not true for every one of them though, DPS have stereotypes too.

Yeah. There seems to be a lot of posts about this sort of thing, but I haven’t really experienced it in game.

A lot of noob tanks out there and they seem to have that attitude that because they are a tank they are more valuable than you even if they absolutely suck at their job. Just the other day I did a UBRS full run. Tank couldn’t even keep aggro on single mobs with me dps-ing, I had to constantly block nova and blink back and forth to have him pick up the aggro and he still wouldn’t, then he would claim that all taunts are getting resisted 10x in a row…like I can clearly see as I pass by that he doesn’t even attempt to attack the mob, let alone taunt it. Then we get to the big room (with Beast on the left) and the bridge to Drak on the right. He keeps pulling mobs on the right and trying avoid Beast and other packs in the room. I tell him to hold on and clear the room so we can have hunter kite, plus a couple of us needed the skinning knife off the beast. We finish killing the 1 pack and he just pulls another right before the bridge with a pack of mobs still alive very close to the entrance. I tell him someone is going to accidentally pull and wipe us…doesn’t listen to me, 2mins later all of us are dead because someone accidentally pulls the pack that’s too close…like I said. I was beyond fed up at this point and I called him out for ignoring my requests to clear the room and skipping boss. Instead of admitting he messed up, he just starts talking trash back to me as if somehow it’s my fault that he is incompetent…then he ragequits. Really makes me wonder if half of the posts on these forums of tanks crying about toxic players are just bads that got called out after refusing to listen over and over, and now just coming to cry on the forums for what’s their fault to begin with.
There is nothing wrong about being new or not knowing where to go, or not being familiar with a dungeon or a boss mechanic, but if you ignore people that know what to do and get everyone killed doing your own thing, then take it like a man and admit you goofed.

It’s the tanks that ”know what they’re doing” that are the worst
Noob tanks I’ve never had a wipe, everyone is happy, etc
But these l33t EverQuest/private server people playing tanks are horrible
Since tanks dictate how a run goes there needs to be a community rating system for these morans
As the tank, we are the Kings & Queens and you are the peasents. Without us, your que time is 30minutes. Without you, our que time goes to the next on the waiting list. No, I won’t call you names, that would be too easy. Instead I as a bear druid will tell you horrible bear puns that makes even the dad jokes sound funny. You best prepare yourselfs.

I think DPS and healers that have never played tanks should stop acting like they know anything about tanks on these forums

I tank from time to time my biggest Gripe in classic is when DPS starts pulling mobs and I end up struggling to get agro off! Its easy really, I attack build agro DPS waits 7 secds to attatck I keep the agro, all heals are on me Its easy on everyone! But you always have the impatient boogerfaces that think their playing BAttle For Azeroth.

Seriously? You’ve NEVER seen a DPS or healer complain?

being that literal is quite useless, of course iv’e seen it complain, but lately and especially on Classic only tanks.
Not sure if being an a$$hole is being considered just doing my thing and asking occasionally for doing some quest in a dungeon. But if this is it then yes i am an a$$hole.
Roll a tank. Show everyone how it’s done. You can be the friendliest tank there ever was. Then you’ll learn why that isn’t an effective attitude in pugs. You need to take charge or they’ll pick you apart.

You can always tank your own dungeons.
It’s not particularly fun.

It’s legit the hardest role. You have to learn pulls, skips, not overpull, manage aggro on multiple targets, maybe mark targets for cc. I recommend construction feedback instead of ostracizing them. If you want more people to tank you need to build a postive environment for them to learn. I am more patient with tanks than any other role.
