I never understood why there are so many tanks in use across Azeroth. We live in a world of dragons, mana bombs, zeppelins, flying machines, gigantic demons, kodos, war elekk, etc.
What sense does it make to be riding a tank around?
Why would any Azerothian combatant want to make themselves so vulnerable?
In real life, tanks made sense because there is a limit to how much damage we can do and we can’t easily fly as individuals. A human in a tank is no match for a goblin in a shredder. Tanks are big, slow, and earthbound. No matter how much armor you give them, or how big their gun gets, most Azerothian vehicles have superior mobility and sufficient damage output to get through their defenses and destroy them.
I feel like Blizzard hasn’t been considering the myriad of options available to the Horde and the Alliance in the areas (BfA had a lot of them) where big-deal outdoor encounters were designed around weirdos in tanks.
If they weren’t stuck in a big dumb tank, they probably wouldn’t be so easy for people to solo.
I feel like this is a perfect example of style over substance. The image of a blackrock orc in a dark menacing tank seems cool, but he’d be a hell of a lot more effective if he had a jet pack instead.
What does everyone else think?
I would like to see more creative vehicle designs based on existing Azerothian technology with an emphasis on speed and precision. The slow, methodical approach is only appropriate for kodo and only if war drums are being played.

I understand that some people like tanks the same way some people like trains, but would it be the end of the world to design a tank that flies at least?
They should have captured those demon spaceships and reversed engineered them. Pretty sad horde still uses blimp airships.

would be horrific if it actually worked

I don’t think it’s a problem that they use them. I think it’s a problem that they haven’t combined the flammable helium of Goblin Zeppelins with Goblin Sappers to create Goblin Kamikaze pilots.
That’s the Mako Cannon.
Both were clearly inspirations for the Bass Cannon.

I found the best 3 tanks to have are:
- Object 279(e)
- T95/FV4201 Chieftain
- Super Conqueror
Other than those three, most other tanks aren’t simply worth considering in the first place…

Tanks actually make more sense than walking automatons. But against flying enemies, it’s a nonstarter.
But on the other hand. We live in a world of powerful magic. Even primitive folks can use the elements. How could any tank, average soldier, zepplin or ship exist safely?
Just one disgruntled yahoo could hijack and destroy an entire vessel.

This sort of thing needs to be considered when zones are being designed.

I mean, the design of the steam tank in WoW is dumb, but the concept is not. Even if mortar teams and machine gunners and gyrocopters are far more effective weapons.
Also, a rotary saw isn’t doing anything to stainless steel.
