Real talk I am right now looking at hopping onto a Vulpera monk when I finish this absolutely absurd rep grind (I expect maybe 4 more days??? At ~11k/21k).
One of the major appeals was that monk’s brewmaster looks hilarious and while the DPS spec windwaker looks really bad and I’ve heard literally nothing good, the ability to heal / tank was super appealing.
But now I’ve heard that apparently people kick tanks if they don’t pull fast enough.
That if the tank doesn’t use cooldowns properly, which I wouldn’t because this whole “Stagger” mechanic is new to me tbh, then they’re kicked.
Ultimately leaving me feeling… very “at risk”? Is that the best way to put it?
How bad are the tank abuses? And aren’t tanks really sought after? Why wouldn’t that mean that people that attack the tank get kicked instead of these toxic DPS?
And if the tank IS kicked… can’t the tank just insta queue back?
I am so confused. So many things at odds.
Eg: If you waited 30 minutes to get into some instance for a tank… why would you kick them? Why wouldn’t you be patient?
It just depends on if you get a PUG of jerks or not. Run with friends or your guild or community and you’ll learn easier without the added stress of random impatient people.
Nope. You get a debuff that won’t let you re-queue for a while.
Thanks for the answer. Wow that’s… that’s really messed up. So if people decide to just be jerks they then get to slap a timer onto a new tank trying to learn?
The debuff is a necessary evil. People used to hold groups hostage until they were kicked so that they could re-queue for a dungeon they liked. People would also harass groups and then get kicked and get right back into groups. So the deuff was introduced to keep people from consistently doing those types of things.
The system can’t pick and choose who gets it and who doesn’t. It’s just a blanket effect.
Might have that a bit backwards. Antisocials are currently happy they can’t go out. Myself as an antisocial and a hermit is perfectly content and doesn’t take offense to such things in games.
It’s those who are grumpy because they can’t socialize, or those who just don’t have any social skills or manners or maturity that do these sorts of things.
While it’s commonly used to mean that, you’re technically talking about people who are asocial. People that are antisocial are those who act in ways that are harmful to society whereas people that are asocial have little to no desire to interact with society.
Sometimes you get an impatient dumbass that thinks you are not pulling fast enough even if you pull the whole dungeon at once, or an A team that works well together, pug life is as random as it can be.
Real talk, on my paladin tank I put in chat that I’m a newer tank and to please bear with me. I then proceed to tank at my normal pace and watch my healers mana. Any time I have put it out at the very start of the run that I am new (I’m actually only quasi new at it), only ONCE have I had anybody with the gogogogogoreeeeeeeeee attitude say anything… and then my healer initiated a vote kick ON THEM.
People are very forgiving if you are up front with them and honest. At the end of the communication and honesty is key. Nobody wants to be “that guy” that is railing on a new tank from the very start.
I was running alts and the moment I see a DPS pull a pack before me, I legit will pull the next 2 or 3 packs as punishment. Then if we wipe I’ll complain that the DPS should stop pulling packs and let me pull. Then we get into an argument because I’m clearly the idiot who pulled an extra 2 packs. It makes them think… we’re lvl 35, not in a 15 key… CAWLM DOWN
I actually pull 2-3 packs in low lvl dungeons anyways and most of the time we can handle it if the healer just simply doesn’t suck. People love it and they want to reque. I don’t tank on any 120 though. Only on alts so I don’t know anything about REAL tanking for the most part.
