Tanks are apart of every major pvp game

Imo the skill difference from 2.7k > 3.1k/3.2k is exponential, best of luck

Literally what revo said. 99% of r1 is substantially better than you and you won’t hold a candle to that. You MIGHT sneak in at the bottom 1% through good qs, q sniping, wintrading, etc…

There’s no shot that guy isn’t trolling lmao.
I swear, the difference between 2.9 and 3k is bigger than the difference between 2.4 and 2.7k
As you climb those extra ranks, the player skill difference is nothing short of insane. The little things REALLY start to matter and you learn just how much you don’t actually know.

im actually unironically saying that prot pallies die really easy against a priest or warrior and with the 40-50% increased damage they take they are essentially a second disc priest with half the healing and similar damage unless theyre abusing necro judgements.

He’s not trolling. He thinks 2.1 to 2.7 is going to be the same as any other 600 rating.

Prots are fried.

some prots are following the way of the immortal god mortalx and go full dmg like me to one shot on open, which having a little healing helps them to win most of the time even if not needed

Prove it, queue without tanking rating.

Why not give some encouraging words and bring up your fellow players instead of bringing them down?

Doing so will create a healthier PvP community!

Man all these tank players are so cringe.

Faced a brewmaster monk/ww monk on my alt warrior (with healer) in 2s yesterday. The WW hid behind a pillar and kited entire game while the brewmaster took no dmg and self healed. The WW would only come out for quick burst, which I’d use defensive cd’s on…then hide again. They did this until dampening and our defensive cd’s were on CD and beat us. Didn’t feel like there was any counter play to it.

You’re comparing a deathmatch game compared to objective based games

Tanks in objective style games make a lot of sense - hell in Mobas tanks make more sense than dedicated healers

They’re entirely different game modes so comparing them doesn’t make much sense. Tanks deserve a place in objective oriented combat imo, but when the game is built on killing people it doesn’t work well, very straightforward to understand.

Arena being a deathmatch is not designed well at all for the existence of tanks.

What if I told you the objective was to Live more?

Tanks when viable in arena are toxic and busted.
Until blizz can figure out how to design them for arena they shouldn’t be in arenas

Then you can clearly see how a role whose entire goal is to be way more durable than anyone else is extremely difficult to balance.

WoTLK (and I guess WoD glad stance) were the only two instances where tank specs existed in Arena that didn’t necessarily rely on their durability to be successful (and that was because they weren’t even deliberately functioning as tanks). For example, prot holy or prot/ret in WoTLK was really powerful but basically either a healer or just a dps and it was only something that worked by the nature of the old talent trees. Prot warriors while really broken were basically wearing 0 resilience so they could do damage and then their strength was just having a kit that was extremely powerful in that era of the game - essentially just Cata Sub rogues in WoTLK.

Those specs were overpowered but even then they were far more reasonable than any other iteration of tanks that possibly exists in arena because of that was just based on the design of old talent trees. You were going deep into the tank trees to have certain abilities that were really powerful to perform a different role entirely - not the role of just being a tank. In fact - I would not even mind dealing with tanks like that again, but those are from an era of the game that is so far gone and they weren’t even really playing specifically as the “tank” role.

The shift in design of tanks overall has just made it absurdly difficult for them to see a place in Arena now without being really toxic or miserable. Prot paladin since Legion is basically just a secondary healer, and with double healer being banned it’s nontrivial to see why that’s very difficult and not really enjoyable. Guardian Druids in BfA were playable and their strength was literally just sitting there and afk stacking on top of their team making everyone immortal passively - that type of design is just not meant to work in a PvP deathmatch environment. I could go on but essentially since roles have become hard enforced in WoW the role of a tank is extremely difficult to make work in a deathmatch environment.

The WoTLK examples are better because being a tank wasn’t a hard enforced role, they just were hybrid specs taking tanking talents to do dps or do healing with extra utility, and Prot warriors for example gave up all of their durability to do reasonable damage with their tankiness coming from disruption. If you have a spec just flat out designed where it’s goal is to be immortal and make everyone on your team immortal as well which will happen mostly passively because they’re designed with PvE in mind now there is just no way you can make that work very well in arena, it is a nightmare to balance.

It’s not some type of gotcha to say “Oh well the objective of arena is to live more”, when that’s the exact reason being a true tank is a balancing nightmare in a deathmatch mode.
