Tanking tips

Hello All,

I have been tanking for a little while now and have gotten up to a +7 under my belt. I was feeling quite confident and everything seemed to be going my way. This week I have been doing quite awful and was wondering if anyone has tips for the fortified, teaming and explosive weeks.

Might get better answers in the Monk forum or even check places like Icy-Veins for ideas. I dont play a monk, so I cannot help you

moved thanks

This weeks affixes are much harder than last, which is why things are feeling a bit worse for you. It has nothing to do with how you personally are playing, just the balance of week to week m+ shifts dramatically.

Try to kite when possible, ROP if need be, leg sweep and roll away to create some space-this week is not a good time at all lol. Also dps not hitting explosives makes for a ROUGH run. Just gotta practice and luck out with your group honestly.

Without having a video to look and say “yeah, you’re not kiting,” I’m gonna agree with everyone else. This week isn’t particularly kind to tank, or dps (teeming, explosive). Next week won’t be kind to the tank or healer (Bolstering, Greivous). Really, try and get better/start kiting this week so that next week you’ll be able to help the healer out.

Also, seeing that you’ve got a +7 under your belt, that’s the introduction of the second (third?) affix, explosive… which is never fun. A good tip is to not use Keg Smash or Breath of Fire to deal with them.

I see. I dont do a ton of kiting. I guess I should weave that into my repertoire

Yeah just mess around with it! Monks have one of the cooler skill sets for kiting. Also could run the Ox Statue too to create some space-have fun and see what methods ya like!

Don’t be afraid to use your paralysis. One less heavy hitting mob can mean a world of difference.

True, paralysis is great, eepcially when you have control of pulls

Control is king, like the others are saying. Control of your damage intake, control of mobs, control of the situation, things like that. Having control is very important as a monk since we don’t have anything like mass grip.

ugh all this talk is making me wanna gear my brewmaster

We’ve got this written up that will cover some general things like Transcendence, Kiting, pathways (mainly to call out notable trash) , talents, etc in each of the dungeons.

“Tips” is kind of vague. I don’t really know what / where your having trouble, only that your having trouble, lol.

I’ll be around if the link above doesn’t have what you need.

Thanks buddy!
