At 12 and above, the meta becomes ingrained in players minds. Which means, Brewmaster just doesn’t get invites unless they’re 3k io and 635+ ilvl.
So I started trying to push my own key, and I swear the quality of players has actually decreased compared to running 10s and 11’s. Heres some of the things I saw.
Healer stepping into bomb on Boralus and dying, then the boss glitching out and meleeing two DPS while casting his pull in
DPS butt pulling the 2nd pack in Boralus meaning we get Shattered Bellow and Iron Hook at the same time == wipe
Healer doing less than 600k healing per second and letting people die to the last boss
DPS dying to telegraphed poison in Ara Kara last boss, not the DOT but the actual waves.
DPS not using defensives on 2nd mini boss in Ara Kara.
DPS doing sub 1m on big packs.
DPS pulling additional packs in Stonevault (literally the entire first boss room. We survived but by the grace of god)
DPS not interrupting bolts.
Healer letting people die to the dot in Dawnbreaker and not dispelling it right away
DPS aiming orbs in Dawnbreaker at walls.
DPS standing in frontals in Necrotic Wake
DPS not using defensives on gatekeeper in Necrotic Wake
Not interrupting Frostbolt Volley
DPS dying to EXTREMELY easy to see swirlies on Amarth. Two died to Land of the Dead swirls
DPS not DPSing Goregrind in Stitchflesh causing two adds to be up at once == wipe.
Like, these are all basic mechanical stuff you should have nailed down by the time you get into 12s. But over and over I see people fail them. Not using defensives, not using healing potions, unenchanted/unsocketed items from people who are 2.8-2.9k IO.
At this point, its the wall. It doesn’t matter how well I play, the keys get bricked by sub-standard play. Not to mention all the keys bricked by players literally disconnecting after the first pull if even one person dies.
I’m not sure this is a glitch. To be fair it might have been, but I always make sure that I have threat on the big boy while also gathering adds.
These are always pulled together anyways. People shouldn’t die to this overlap either they just weren’t using their defensives if they did. Usually I just BoP the healer on overlap and trust the DPS to press their buttons.
You need to vet your groups better.
For example, look at the armory of my paladin. This character is a fotm reroll because I raid on BDK and forget that for keys.
This char has gotten 3 vaults (legs, cloak, heroic egg trinket from raid)
I pugged first 4 on mythic (made my own group) to try and get cloak and neck
I am 633 ilvl
This is the cutoff for me. If you see someone that is below 632 (I got a bit lucky with some myth drops but I have also had way less vaults) that means they aren’t bothering to cap their crests or craft pieces.
12s ill invite 628 or above.
13s 630 or above.
14s 633 or above.
Also just inspect people if you invite. If they can’t be bothered to gem or enchant just kick them. You want people that are into min / maxing lol.
Yeah that’s M+ randos for you. My last few runs in the 7-8 range have been absolutely miserable. I’m not sure I have the spirit to get KSH this time around.

I’m pretty sure it is. He shouldn’t use Heavy Hitter unless the focus target is in melee, but he’ll sometimes use it in between focuses because he doesn’t have a “melee” it’s all heavy hitter.
Or it can line up perfectly and you just get really good value for your defensive haha.
No you’re not wrong sometimes it can be super grief but this pull is still done as 1, too inefficient to kill the 1 dude solo and most of the time you are skipping to boss room after this pull anyways.
Which means pulling first pack, waiting a few seconds then pulling the other guy. Should also tank them at a corner so DPS can line of sight the bellow. They never do, but hey one can hope.
That stone vault was also funny because a DPS died to the mech frontal, hit respawn and died again to the same frontal because it can apparently travel through walls, and just so happened that it went right to spawn.
Yeah I know he isn’t supposed to ever use that unless in mele, but when he is between focuses like you said if he uses that ability typically I have found it to be on whoever has threat.
Let’s call it a bug you can play around by making sure you are always top threat?
I got a late start to m+ and been leveling alts during anniversary xp bonus so im just breaking into 10s on my tank.
When i DPS, runs go smooth. When I tank youve got 620 ilvl shamans with 2.3k score doing 700k, dying multiple times from standing in things that are quite obvious. DPS still pointing orb at wall, no one getting bombs on last boss p1 even though you ping them.
S2 pushing hard the first couple weeks to bypass all of this >.<
I got beef with this one. It’s hard to interrupt when you have stacking nameplates and you gotta pick that pick that sucker out of a pile to interrupt but only to interrupt, because DPSing the mage is a waste of time. And if you don’t kill the necromancer fast enough you’re gonna run out of stuns/kicks.
Out of all the 10/11’s I’ve done Necrotic Wake Necromancer packs are the absolute worst because I can’t just mark them and set someone on them to only kick volleys and trust them to kill the Necromancers fast enough.
DPS not doing damage is wild to me and actually tilting. I leave keys now if I sense low damage, which I’m in baby keys so you gotta kinda be loose with it otherwise you’ll never time a key. But some of these people are under the tank sometimes its crazy.
Translation… my class is bad right now and I want to blame others and nobody can prove it
I mean, brew is the only C tier tank right now, yes. But it’s perfectly capable of clearing 12-15’s and even 16. All of my bricked keys are from things outside of whether or not my utility as a brewmaster or my survivability/damage. I’ve never had an issue dying in a pack and can keep myself reasonably topped up/alive without much healer babysitting besides maybe an earth shield/riptide/renew/rejuv etc.
