So, I now have 3 tanks above 2500io, and this is my thoughts.
Tanking is actually the most thankless job in this game, I refuse to tank a single key more.
My reasoning? Let’s just say Rag.
2200io rogue 463ilvl in a 21, no kick, no cloak, no evasion, no tricks, no vanish except for offensive usage, NO DEFENSIVES. 3261io mage. Says he’s auto better than me bc he’s 3200io, yet he lusts when 2 dps are dead, never DBs for any CC, misses 75% of his kicks, never dispels a single time, etc. etc.
Meanwhile I’m sitting here pulling 3-4 packs at once, healer says is fine so we keep going. I hit a million HPS at one point and felt totally fine doing it. Healer never complained.
Then the mage fires off an arcane orb, I taunt, all is good.
Then he fires ANOTHER orb, and instantly dies and blames me. Bro I don’t have anything for you. He then gets upset, starts pulling to “his likings”.
We get to 3rd boss trash in Everbloom, to no surprise we bust the key bc the mage and rogue are complete idiots.
And yet I get blamed for not kicking every single cast, for not gripping pyromancer(you literally can’t) and get told my route sucks but they were the only two who died the entire key except for the wipe we had where nothing except 1 pyro got kicked which one tapped the healer.
I love blood dk, but I refuse to tank a singular pug key the rest of this season at a minimum, maybe ever, quite honestly.
I sit here, try my absolute hardest, and STILL get told off when I do one thing that a crappy DPS does not like.
Its not just this key, this is nearly every single key I pug into. Some DPS always complains about routing, or they buttpull or don’t cc then complain to me or the healer, and either I get upset and start playing like crap or the healer just huffs and leaves.
I want 3k, but I soley pug and I just can’t do it anymore. 883 keys later, signing out until Season 4. Yall take it easy.
Rest well, Knight of the Ebon Blade, as you ease into season 4. I salute your effort to pug all spots. I have an advantage on having, generally, a minimal amount of pugging to contend with when I tank.
I’m sorry for that frustrating key. Maybe after you get some more momentum you’ll try more keys again.
Good, smart tanks are hard to find. I know. I’m a tank main, and I still have a lot to learn, and I try to learn from the better ones on these forums. Hope you have an easier go if you decide to keep pugging.

I’m also pretty sure I’m going to catch a pretty lengthy suspension because I lashed out at the end of the key bc I’m just tired of being put down as a tank. IO means nothing and I stand by that.
I’m sorry if that happens. I can appreciate the desire to vent and open the relief valve. Hopefully, it turns out well in the end for all.
Now is this “tanking being thankless”, or simply you running into stupid pugs and engaging with them and not just instantly muting them?
Cause like you’re a blood DK. It doesn’t matter if DPS use defensives or not, you can’t do a whole lot about them.
So you’re telling me out of around 750 of the 850+ keys I have run, pugs are stupid? My shadow is 2400 and she rarely if ever gets any crap. But I have seen MANY tanks get reemed and ridiculed when things didn’t go how the dps wanted. There’s MANY reputable sources that back up why I have posted this. My ignore list is also full on all
3 of my tanks, because of the amount of idiocy I deal with on a daily basis.
