I tanked 7 dungeons this morning. Of those 7, DPS pulled everything in 6/7. Why is there so much of this? People get mad if I go slow, mad if I pull too many. It was baffling to me. I even threw out a message at the beginning, “Please tell me if I’m going too slow or too quickly.” Nothing. Just another Paladin or Hunter running through two hallways and pulling 30 mobs. The dungeons aren’t difficult, per se, but the etiquette is just odd. I haven’t tanked since Legion, so maybe I’ve missed the memo.
Seen a lot of this as well. The way people run normal dungeons is to pull almost everything to the first boss.
That trend is slowly starting to manifest in Heroics as well although not as many adds.
3/4 of the time if you try to communicate with people in the Party chat, you are ignored. Even when asking for help. Experienced this quite a few times in the beginning.
Folks are impatient as hell. If folks want to pull, more power to em, but I’m not killing myself saving them. My warrior is pretty much indestructible and is normally the second highest dps anyway, so if they die to their own impatience it’s on them
The impatience is legitimately insane, thank you for pointing that out. Dungeons just feel like a giant rushed mess now depending on who you’re with.
Are you referring to normals or heroics?
most of us in these heroics do high mythics and were bored as heck
I’m currently running normals since my Tank is level 79. I’d like to tank heroics once I hit max and gear a bit, but I’m hesitant.
Follower dungeons are for learning the mechanics. People want to zoom in groups. It’s good to learn how to zoom and manage offensive and defensive cooldowns because this knowledge is necessary for M+.
The great thing about heroics is that tanks do have to take it slower right now with some dungeons (City of Threads for example), especially since most folks don’t know what to do. The pace is eased up.
I’m no Mythic key pusher, and I’m bored by Heroics. I thought they were supposed to be as difficult as the old Mythic 0. They are very, very easy.
Eh most of the heroics I pull two big pulls and then the boss. Mainly because the mobs are spread out and people start dpsing before they’re stacked because they don’t know how to play.
Ahhh, ok that makes sense then.
It’s far less common in heroics (dps eat floor if they FAFO)
And it’s going to be much less common in M/M+ for the same reason.
The scaling issue that was recently fixed still has a few players acting mighty bold in normals
Mythic 0s were never difficult in any sense of the imagination tbh, and neither were heroics.
That’s good to know, thank you! Maybe I’m just not used to the fast-paced stuff since I haven’t tanked in awhile.
Welcome to the life of a tank, no matter which you choose you’re doing it wrong.
As long as you can ‘read the room’ as a tank, you’ll be fine IMHO
I had a group of 3 paladins in one run today the Hunter warned me they had lost 7 tanks due to them pulling like idiots. I just laughed and let them pull and forgot how to taunt. After 2 times they died they stopped. We finished the instance and I just left.
Yeah it’s good to see on the first pull how your group is doing and adjust. Sometimes I get baller groups who can handle every trash pack + the boss with no issue. Others you need to do only double or triple pack pulls or whatever because the dps is low and doesn’t use interrupts properly.
Right now, especially with normals, scaling is super wonky so no one can really die and everyone does crazy damage so things get burned relatively quickly. Once folks hit 80, that scaling immediately drops and people are doing less damage and taking more in turn. It’s just the normal dungeons that have that super intense high octane go go go vibes.
Though, once everyone gets used to the dungeons and folks start gearing up, chances are heroics will be no different.
To be fair, I haven’t tried Mythic since Legion. I didn’t find it terribly simple then, honestly, comparatively. I am not a very skilled player.
