Tanking heroics sucks - I refuse to do it for free

This is true!

As a tank my self. If the DPS does not CC or killing on my skull marks. They will be kicked and replaced.

I don’t have time to watch and learn dungeon videos. I have better things to do with my time. If those are your expectations, you’re always welcome to find a different tank - no hard feelings. That’s how adults handle it. Kids run around telling people “there’s no excuse” for having different gaming preferences.

Okay, then what are the dps’ers excuse for being ignorant jackasses who never know anything and need to be handheld constantly?

but… but… Illidan said I am not prepared.

Pugs suck

Play with guild friends til you know all the dungeons well

There are also probably some video guides you could look over before hand.

Hope that helps
Don’t give up

Our tanks just run with the guild, why risk randos, when you can have a 5 man and do a full around the world in an evening?

DPS don’t need to read up on mechanics, or even learn the basic functions of their class, because more often than not any level of incompetence on their part will not result in a wipe for the group.

Hell, more often than not, they’ll screech at the tank or healer for messing up when the problem was them, and when the tank is new, they’ll take that to heart and feel demoralized undeservedly.

Basically this.

Dps’ers are basically mouth breathers that need to be transported to the finish line.

OP, I love you.

I am so tired of tanking heroics. I tanked TBC back in 08 and it was so, SO much better.

You have to remember, back in 08 CC was standard operating procedure on ALL dungeons. It wasn’t until years later that AoE dungeoning became the norm. Back in 08 heroics were tougher, yes, but generally not too much tougher. Nowhere, nowhere even close to as tough as raiding.

Now people think heroics are as tough as raids. Why? Because CC is so rare now that every time you ask someone to do it problems occur. There’s always one guy who doesn’t pick up his mob, or one who pulls aggro, or there is that dude who simply thinks AoE is the only way to run instances.

Heroics were built for a game that people don’t know existed, a game where every dungeon was a test of working together and using CC appropriately. Everyone back in 08 knew that, there was no other way. It made a tank’s job so much easier, not just because of the CC itself, but because everyone KNEW exactly what to expect.

These days, there is always one guy who has no idea to run a heroic, and will insist on blasting through it with AoE and face pulling to “speed things up”. It is beyond annoying tanking for those clowns, and there is always one in every PUG.

Yeah just like the community punished Mages who sold boosts when … oh wait …

If there’s a market willing to pay for it fair and square then people can charge for the service. It’s a game, managing gold resources is part of the game. Thoroughly legitimate. No-one will blacklist you for selling them a service they’re willing to pay for with in game currency. Heck, they should respect you for cleverly leveraging your class/spec.

It’s so amusing when people want to turn a game into some sort of virtual nanny state. It’s a game, gold is no less a game resource than Mana or Health. It’s a social resource. Leveraging your in-game situation to make more gold is what I call playing the game well.

You do you, but I personally would never pay a tank to play their job role in a group.

Tanks simply are just not that scarce, and I’m on an alliance dominated server. :woman_shrugging:

Yep that’s fair.

If the dude can get people to pay him - more power to him.

My buddy got his epic mount yesterday after charging 20g for Normals and 50g for Heroics. Now he is geared and flying fast. Start charging for sure.

heroics are already on farm for my shaman

Just started tanking heroics and loving the step up in difficulty.

I pug a lot and haven’t encountered any unpleasant types in my runs. Everyone is very forgiving of my mistakes, eager to offer advice and I have not encountered anyone truly incompetent in a heroic yet.

This is why I’m don’t tank anymore. Modern mentality is “just look it up” and do what someone else said is the best way instead of learning while doing. And dumbass retail DPS who want to treat it like Mythic+

Just my 2c, I’d rather tank for a good group of friends than get paid by pugs. Heroics need good dps and healers to go smoothly.

Or they want to skip most of the trash. One little screw up, then it’s a wipe, and a gauntlet to get back to where you were.
