I’m trying to figure out what I want to do for my Azerite traits. I find, especially with this weeks Raging that Mythic 10+s can REALLY do a huge number to my health pool in a blink of the eye if I don’t jump away fast enough. Not to mention my luck it always kicks in during the time Spikes is on cooldown so I lose all that sweet armor.
Do people find it worthwhile to stack the ARmor Traits (Spikes/Immolation)? Base Armor seems to work well with Spikes except when it’s on cooldown with the Trait wouldn’t help to begin with .
Would 3x Hour of Reaping be beneficial? Getting 3k+ Extra Health per Soul Fragment adds up fairly quick so that could take some stress of the healer.
What about stacking Revel in Pain for the increased Shield?
Really unsure how to maximize at this point since I want to push 12+ Keys and right now 11 seems to be my comfortable limit.
I don’t know, man. Hour of Reaping seems pretty good, but I’ve mostly been gearing for higher ilvl = higher primary and stam, and taking a variety of traits, emphasizing the armor-oriented ones, since the others seem mostly remarkable for having cool one-offs but then uninteresting scaling.
This week is really hard to gauge from though, since the affixes are so easy. Next week is going to be different. All the same, I’ve been flirting with the notion of speccing for neutral traits to maximize DPS, because I’ve been feeling pretty robust. A part of that is that I have a regular crew I play with that has a rhythm down for treants, AoE stuns, etc. that really mitigate a lot of the incoming damage (our one big deficiency is slows).
ilvl 401 right now, for context.
For M+, you absolutely want 1x Essence Sever, and 1x Hour of Reaping. Multiple copies of HoR aren’t really that great, but not the worst (the extra 1k healing per fragment is nice, but not worth it if you have other choices). I also recommend 1 copy of Revel in Pain - the shield + 10 sec Brand duration is nice. If possible, you want 1 copy of Cycle of Binding, to get more Sigil casts.
For your last two, any combination of Infernal Armor/Rigid Carapace are your best bet.
Also, I just want to point out that Soulmonger actually appears to be a very solid trait, based on looking at my logs/Skada. It routinely does significantly more healing than Resounding Protection (commonly considered the best inner ring trait). Worth picking up a copy or two of it if you get the chance. On some fights, its been doing as much as 10% of my healing from a single copy of it.

Shirazi is right on the money. I’d like to add that you shouldn’t be afraid to use Fiery Brand religiously during trash, especially if you’re pugging and don’t particularly trust your healer.
Also, track your absorbs so that you can save demon spikes. If the stars align, you can get over 100k absorbs. No reason to use demon spikes then unless you are taking massive damage.
strength in numbers defensive trait. anyone know if that stacks?
It does. I do find the proc rate to be pretty low though. It loves to go off when it’s one mob left for me and not the pack i pulled. ha.
