Which DPS class is considered the best able to take damage and survive?
For pvp? Probably a druid in either feral or boomkin spec, the insta heal talent and the ability to shift to bear then sprint behind pillars is pretty good.
For pve? I’d say an affliction warlock, maybe, haven’t given it too much thought.
You called?
Druid does seem very versatile.
I literally thought of it just before and became curious.
Rogues, mage, DH, pally and hunter can cheese fatal raid mechanics pretty easily and have done for a while now. Rogues are also generally just pretty good. Magic removal/immunity, cheat death, spammable feint (30% less aoe dmg, not sure if it’s still talentable for other types), evasion for physical swings.
Warlocks have a fair amount of effective hp (guy I raided with had about 50,000 extra hp in his warlock shield and 3 azerite traits of shielding) as well as some defensive cds.
No clue about PvP but I know that for leveling and stuff, classes that get a powerful self heal after killing something like DKs, Warriors, and Monks are pretty tough.
Monks also get Xuen to tank for them, Earth Wind and Fire to soak some damage, and Touch of Karma to avoid a bunch of damage entirely.
Ret paladin, for both PvE and PvP. They have weaknesses, but their defenses cover every situation and they have so many of them. Their healing is nuts, and instant cast. They wear plate, and the icing is they hit like trucks.
I think it’s Unholy DK right now. Fury is good in 1v1, I would say the same for shaman and pally too as they have good armor and self heals. Shaman do have weaker CD’s compared to pally,
PvE, probably hunter, for the pet taunt or kiting, or a druid offtank.
PvP, fury warrior has selfheals, warlocks have stupid hp and armor, balance druids and their eternal celestial guardian form.
While not a tank itself, Warlock can send his void dude to tank everything, and has a life-draining skill since pretty low levels. PvE leveling is rather easy and death-proof unless you go kamikaze.
If lots of targets around havoc DH.
If easy kills to be found in decent numbers you get more than enough chances to make some souls eat up to keep HP levels. Mix with leeching…does pretty good imo.
Only issue I have hit is true solo targets. Like a boss in night hold raid. Just me and him. I was not grinding him fast enough nor leeching enough off of hits. Now a raid boss before him with lots of adds, fun times. I was like please, bring the adds. They died easy to eye beam and dance rotations and kept my HP up.
I’m pretty sure my number one cause of PvE death is falling from forgetting to put the tinker on my cloak.
Ferals do not have a cheat death and are generally considered one of the more squishy dps classes, if they don’t see it coming. If they DO see it coming… Well, they are fast enough to avoid it and if they can’t they do have some ability to mitigate the blow. But if the blow is hard enough, they still don’t have a cheat death.
Depends on the content PvE/PvP and also a bit if you mean gereral tankiness / sustain for open world and questing or say defensives to survive boss abilities that target you.
For PvE say M+ where it’s mostly about on-demand defensives I’d say the best is Havoc DH and second is probably druid or rogue depending on the situation:
Havoc DH
- Blur - 35% DR (50 if talented) and 50% dodge chance with 1m CD.
- Netherwalk - (talent) Immunity with 2m CD (shortest amoung immunities)
- Blade dance - 100% dodge chance (only 1s duration) 9s CD.
- Darkness.
Druids:
- Barkskin (resto / balance) - 20% DR, 1m CD.
- Surv Instincts (feral) - 50% DR, 2 charges on 3m recharge.
- Bear Form - On demand 25% bonus health and extra armor.
To find out the total figure would take a long time.I can only say from what i gather on our realm from Wowprogress ,Dk,Druid and Warrior leads.
DH can solo pretty much anything. Botonist can be tricky because of his stacking buff. But i’ll guess you didn’t save your meta for when you got low to heal back to full.
prior to 2017 i would have told you ret paladin. but maybe i got ultra rusty during my hiatus from 2015-2017 that i couldn’t keep my paladins alive from just questing so they now are all in protection spec.
my main is a blood dk, but often i would go into frost spec to do dailies and go back to blood for the elite mobs; in legion it was nice that the dual wield didn’t eat up bag space but these days it sucks when switching specs
Aw I feel so loved guys. Thx for telling me I am a tank in PvP. It really feels that way when I’m chain stunned by 7 Hordes for 10 seconds until I’m dead
You’re very welcome
LOL the feels
