Happy Sunday
I played Disc years ago (back in MoP) and didn’t think about it, I played Hpal during DF and now MW while dabbling some in resto shaman and now I wonder, why don’t all healers just have some sort of DPS > healing conversion?
MW and Hpal don’t have to DPS to heal, it’s an option, the best Hpal I have seen in TWW (admittedly there have not been much) was a caster. MW also suggests for raid to do a casting setup and disc still has spot heals that do not require damage.
So why not let all healers go the other way and put some options for damage to convert to healing.
In content that matters Tanks are at a historic low.
If you look at how we’re stacking up:
I do think it’s too late for this season, but this needs to happen next season.
YoDaTV made a video summarising most of this including sources from WCL to back it up:
Because thats how Blizzard decided to balance things suppose, just wish could get a buff for solo play where get a damage buff when not in a party or raid group.
Ah, memories.
Because one is still technically a DPS while the the other is a , you know, HEALER?
Whenever healers do good damage, folks yell at them for not doing both DPS and healing.
Tanks generally have good damage to generate threat, because Blizzard likes to play around with threat generation for whatever reason.
I remember playing when tank damage was kinda pitiful but just sneezing on mobs would keep them glued to you forever.
But things are always being changed, the wheel has been reinvented again and again.
“Near” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.
Vast majority of tanks’ GCD’s are going towards damage-dealing abilities. Healers’ aren’t. Like…in our Gally reclear last night, I cast Flash Heal alone 87 times, and cast Smite/Holy Fire/Chastise 30 times combined. Still parsed a 95 for Holy Priest dps (mostly because of Halo padding, presumably).
Balancing fights around healers bringing significant dps is probably a lot harder than around tanks as well.
I don’t think either should do dps in group content. That’s what dps are for.
Healers got some damage so questing wouldn’t be as much of a hassle for them.
Then they whined about having damage potential, so it has been pared back more and more.
Tanks do nowhere near DPS level of damage unless the DPS is absolutely awful. Reasonably they’ll do 50% if the pulls are bad, maybe 35-40% if the pulls are good and the DPS gets to pump.
Healers are doing pretty much zero damage because a vocal group of really bad healers complained about being expected to dps in their downtime instead of being afk. It’s an awful change and should be reverted, alternatively healers should turn into more of a supportive role that uses abilities to enhance their teammates when there’s nothing to heal.
