Tank Trinkets.

Can we stop giving tanks trinkets that literally just proc/on-use flat damage? It's so hard to find a trinket that will actually help me stay alive when the 2 or 3 trinkets that actually proc stats that help my tanking or otherwise have defensive effects are lost in an ocean of "procs x damage split between enemies" in various forms (or stats like crit that are only negligibly useful, at least for me).

Why are flat damage procs not ret-specific on loot tables (same for other tanks)? Every single tank has a melee DPS offspec. If they want flat damage trinkets, they can set their lootspec to damage on those bosses, usually without missing out on anything they could use for the tank spec.

I get that loot spec will never assign only perfect stats to drop, but most trinkets seem pretty clearly "not for tanking". Let tanks get static stat procs and the ones that have defensive effects. Let DPS get static stat procs and the ones that only offer extra damage.
Its almost like the devs dont want tankt to have as much defensive capability compared to previois expansions. Its almost like, they want tanks to be hit harder and take more damage.

Its almost like they did it on purpose so that they could give better trinkets in later raids.
Blockades, Mythrax trinket, world quest stat trinkets. Dungeon trinkets, assorted.

Pick two and go nuts.
I have a couple good tank trinkets. One drops from Mythrax and gives you a huge shield (70kish?) when you pop under 40% health on a 2min cd. Another I got from a M+ weekly chest, so I don't recall what boss drops it. However, it's an activatable shield that gives me 55k shield for 6 seconds on a 1.5min cd. These shields are so nice, especially the one I can choose to activate. If both are used, I'm unkillable for a good 10s.

This is the “progress path”. Start of the expansion your stats are borked and nothing works like it should, then they slowly trickle your stats back to you over the course of a couple years and lo, at the end of the Xpac, you get to play your toon like it was meant to be played for a few months until the new Xpac, where you get to do it all over again.

Rinse/repeat.

Those are actually the main 2 I'm thinking of us clearly tank trinkets. I believe its the one from the 2nd boss in King's Rest (which frankly I'm not willing to touch on Fortified Weeks with how overtuned the trash is compared to other dungeons), and yeah Mythrax.

Blockades and World Boss Trinkets have no progression option. If you're looking for better than normal Uldir quality, you can't get it from Blockades and are very unlikely to get it from World Bosses.

Same issue for World Quest trinkets. If you're looking for 340 or higher, you're very unlikely to get it, let alone 355+. It's not a reasonable method of gearing at that point.

So the only reliable means of getting high quality trinkets is Mythic+ and Raiding.

Raiding offers the Mythrax Trinket, Mythic+ offers the King's Rest Trinket. What else is there? Is that literally all?

Okay, I could see this if -all- trinkets were bad, but the fact that the King's Rest and Mythrax trinkets DO exist means that tanks are funneled into very very specific drops for optimal survivability while DPS have a dozen different reasonable options. That's not "starting weak so we can give you nice stuff later" that's just bad design, period.
Rezan's trinket, but that might only be good for prot warrs.
You do know the Blockades is arguably the best tank trinket available for raw survivability, right.

Nah you're right, I knew there was at least 1 stat trinket somewhere that was decent but I couldn't think of it (that's why I initially said 2-3 trinkets). Now that I think about it there's also the Vers trinket in Tol Dagor, so that's 1 more than I was thinking.

Still seems lopsided.

Icy-Veins seems to think the Mythrax Trinket is actually a trap and is bad for Paladins as well, but I think that's running on the assumption that you will get a big crit heal from our self heal thing that's based on missing health. If it doesn't crit, that's not enough to get into a "safe" range, and the increased healing caps at 200%, so I think I disagree with Icy-Veins on this one on the merit that it's a "save your life" trinket in a worst case scenario and a "reduces damage for awhile" proc in a best case scenario even if you heal up after it procs.
I agree it’s bad design. Yeah, you have a couple of trinkets with very low drop rates that can get you there sooner, but most people playing right now probably don’t have them.

My BiS trinket is BoE (lol!) so unless I’m willing to pay about 900k for it (or equip it rather than selling it if it dropped for me...nope) I will never have it.
