so I just started trying to gear my DH for 8.2 when Veng gets buffed. Do Havoc and Veng share the same basic gear minus trinkets and Azerite Traits? I just got the Bwomsandi Bargain trinket so was hoping I would only need to keep gearing Havoc mostly and find one more trink.
The sets are pretty similar. You can pretty safely prioritize secondary stat gearing for havoc and be fine for vengeance. Neither spec particularly cares for mastery, while havoc cares a bit more for crit, but it’s not that big a deal.
I haven’t looked at loot tables for 8.2 (are there even loot tables yet?), but if you have the chance to get the prism off of Opulence, that is the one tanking trinket that is extremely valuable for VDH. Otherwise, set your loot spec to havoc so that you don’t risk getting the tank trink out of KR. Obviously, the stat proc and on use stat trinkets will have more defensive benefit for VDH than the direct damage proc or on use trinkets. Some good ones to look out for are Harlan’s Loaded Dice, the Plume from KR, the on use haste puddle trinket from Shrine, and the PvP vers/agi trinks, if you do arena. The highest level of the alchemist stone is also really decent.
