I have played Blood DK was the first Tank I ever tried maybe ask before making assumptions like this.
Yeah like they’re not mega sponges but they’re really not as squishy as some people like to claim as long as you know what you’re doing.
It’s Blizzard so yuh if they do nerf it I really don’t think they’ll care much about how it effects healing after season 1 and 2.
Yuh just hoping if they do they at least consider the effect on healing.
Wha? Is anyone reading the post it’s not calling for a nerf it’s a discussion about whether or not Blizzard WILL nerf Tank self healing for ALL tanks in The War Within like far out.
In higher content yes in low content where I can afford to mess around and be less mana conscious nope.
I’m not sure what to fix, or if it even needs fixed, but tanks being immortal self sustaining livelords in 99% of content is really strange design in a game based on the trinity.
Dks started in plate and were decently tanky. Legion reworks and BFA nerfs made them what they are, in BFA a boomkin had more armor than a blood dk… Even dk dps are more like glass canons in pvp than ever compared to before.
Think this is part of a much bigger discussion about what the fundamental challenges are for group play.
It used to be the tank needs to hold aggro and mitigate damage, the healer needs to heal the tank, the DPS needs to maximize their DPS.
This is slowly changed and now:
The tank needs to dance and avoid damage, interrupt, and DPS.
The DPS needs to dance and avoid damage, interrupt, and tank a lot more avoidable and unavoidable damage.
The healer needs to dance and avoid damage and heal a whole party of tanks.
I don’t really care for the new system, doesn’t mean it’s bad, but I think it’s a major contributor to the cognitive overload as they try to force this into a ARPG while adding complexity to the traditional spec designs.
It’s also creating absurd results with indestructible tanks that can easily drag a group into a situation only they can survive in. How many times have you seen a tank solo half a boss without a healer? And in this new paradigm you start seeing bad behaviors from some tanks because they are no longer dependent on the group.
Tanks have enough to worry about pulling big on 2 min CDs is a thing. The last thing we need to worry about is a healer who needs to concentrate on keeping the dps and themselves up. Also, battle res is really saved for the rest of the team. Tanks need to self sustain because if they go down, the party wipes.
