Tank Question

I have no intention of getting stressed out running normal dungeons.

So I’m asking, how do you deal with the inevitable dude who wants to be the first person to hit everything?

I hate having to deal with rounding up mobs that had no reason to be running around other than Caption DPS over here can’t wait 2 second for me to touch the mobs. Should I just let them own it and not even think about it? Basically - If you don’t care I don’t care.

When I DPS, I wait till the tank has had time. So I’ve almost never pulled agro.

It’s kinda situational. If it’s DPS and they out gear it and just burning stuff down, then I’ll usually let them keep that pack to themselves and run ahead to start getting a big pull together for them. And along these same lines, it probably won’t hurt to leave a pack before everything is dead to start pulling the next one - keep them busy on the last one so they don’t mess with your pulls.

If they’re bad DPS - not able to burn through and getting chunked with no defensives - I’ll just let the healer decide their fate.

But it is annoying when people pull for you. I just feel like if you want to pull and lead the group then roll a tank.

If you’re pulling one pack, dps go ham and pull aggro, that’s on them.

If you’re pulling multiple packs, and you expect them to wait for you to gather mobs, communicate.

if you bounce through 3 packs of mobs, and the dps is pulling aggro on pack 1 because you didn’t get much threat before leaping again and they don’t know to hold until you gather… that’s on you.

Jump in there without exposing your back to getting hit and pop immo aura. Hit them with a sigil of flame from afar. Sigil of Chains and Fel Dev. Whatever, just slam out some damage.

As long as you’re cranking out the damage you are doing your job. Occasionally on high keys (10s and 11s atm) I’ll get a super stacked Frost DK or whatever who will pull aggro on a singular mob, but taunt fixes that.

The first step is to figure out how to play Vengeance DH like it’s a DPS class. Once you’ve figured out how to get your damage in then you can figure out your defensives. You really need to do both, but you can’t actually figure out your defensives unless you take damage, and you can’t take damage unless you do damage.

Act like the taunt button doesn’t exist

By leaving the problem to the dps…. Your not leaving the problem to the dps and who pulled it. You have now transferred that problem on to your healer who has to funnel healing in to that player.

Be a good tank, just pick up the mobs. Sigils can be cast at range too. Throw glaive. Taunt.
