I can understand your thoughs here, and your frustrations. I run a small, community/friends first driven Horde guild called Echelon.
We have members and players of all different skill levels, and playstyles. It’s a part of our DNA.
TLDR…
I don’t have a tanking position available in our raiding content currently, as we have a great tank line. But, I do very much need a melee DPS player who would be willing to learn the tank progression as well, so that if we have a tank need to not be there for a raid, we have the substitution covered. (This is, of course, just during raid content.) We do use logs, etc for our own betterment, but never as a means of judging the player. We value our people first, and know that we can always get better together.
Outside of raiding, we all play all sorts of different things, and the groups are always glad to have folks who want to tank for mythic+ dungeons, etc.
