Tank for open world content

I’m wanting to roll a tank for lfr and lfg on top of open world content and rare mobs I know they can all tank but I want to play a tank that can do damage the fastest when soloing rare mobs in open world. I don’t plan on ever doing any mythic plus stuff just lfr and lfg with the occasional bg pvp. I also like doing professions so there will be farming involved.

Dunno about other tanks but guardian druid and templar prot pal both shred in open world. Druid will be better for professions/farming, and paladin has more tools for group content, although those tools may not be necessary for lower end difficulty.

I’ve druid, monk and warrior. Can’t speak for paladin, dh nor Dk but for those 3;

Druid: easiest to play, wich at the same time also makes it the most boring, because its damage rotation is a no brainer spam of 3 buttons. The werebear is still sick though. Also only tank with access to stealth wich is always nice to have on pvp since you mentioned you might go to bg with it.

Monk; imo the most fun to play of the 3 because their rotation actually feels like a dps spec rotation, but also the most complicated to master because of all the cooldowns they have.

Warr; the in-between ground and my current fav. Ignore pain-shield block make you incredibly tanky and the sinergy with Mountain Thane hero spec is perfect. Extremely satisfying to group up a bunch of mobs togueter and go razageth mode on them. Also the excess rage gained from MT lets you go more offensive without worrying about having spare rage for your defensives. Its very hard “not” to cap on rage as MT prot warr.

On the other side warr is also the only one i have played in TWW so i don’t really know if the issues i mentioned with the other 2 have been addressed with their hero talents

there is no real reason not to both specs of your toon and handicapping yourself

Even if you don’t want to do M+, you should probably just look into whichever tanks are doing the most damage in M+ anyway. I think top three are Vengeance, Brewmaster and Prot Warrior. But as with everything, there will be nerfs and buffs, so you should play whichever spec you like the feel of the most…rather than relying on which is currently meta.

I’ve always liked Prot Warrior even when it’s not the FOTM spec.

Druids are so much fun in open world stuff - nothing beats their utility and having stealth on a solo tank is incredible.

Hi!!

Tanks in WoW are SUPER fun to play. I told myself I would never tank, I was always a healer main since 2007 with multiple AotCs and KSM/KSH under my belt. One day during Dragonflight, I decided to switch over to Guardian because I heard of “Galactic Guardian” and thought it looked, sounded and played pretty nice.

Fast forward to today and I haven’t looked back since. The extreme survivability, the insane damage you do. You can quite literally pull 20+ quest mobs and AoE them down without a problem, and fast too. On top of all of this, you have near instant queue times for any form of content, and are supremely sought after the higher your M+ score gets for M+

I would say definitely roll a tank. I’m biased so I would say roll a Guardian Druid as it flows together very nicely, and their damage profile is very intense. I regret not getting Werebear Forms during Legion Magetower, but I told myself I would never tank… REGRET! At any rate, I do have Felbear Werebear, and just made up a lil’ story that Vhiana here fell into a pool of fel magic and it corrupted her bear form, it helps me cope… lol

Have fun!

Brewmaster gets black ix statue which every aoe farm group wants if that is something you’re interested in.

I just played my werebear on my druid as if my normal bear form getting enhanced and corrupted by tanking that gigantic fel explosion Highlord Kruul does when you defeat him. Causing the form to mute into the Felbear werebear

Guardian Druid will suit your play style.

I play all tanks. Druid or dk.

my druid has an owl bear look and i love it

DH is the underrated choice. Simple to play and seems like they do more damage than other tank specs.

Dk was nigh unkillable.
Even as a dps spec. Burst damage + ds procs = a nice source of self healing.

I was soloing 80 rares at lvl 70 lol. See an 80 rare, spec swap to blood.
