First lets get this out of the way. Tanks shouldn’t be doing DPS levels of DPS like we saw with Prot Paladins in S1.
However, when tanks in S2 are looking to do a third or even a quarter of the top DPS on the meters, it has some very serious implications, such as issues with threat, an even lower tank population, and issues with balance – when tank dps doesn’t matter then it becomes whichever tank brings the most utility or survivability.
And since survivability isn’t really a problem in S2 with the drastically reduced tankbusters, it then becomes only about utility; yet another Prot Paladin season.
