I really want to tame some of the Wilderlings that have finally appeared in Ardenweald. Not only do I love the design, but Beast Lore indicates they’re of the Ferocity spec, which is exactly what I’d love to have a serpent for. But attempting to tame any of them shows them as not tameable.
I already have the ability to tame Cloud Serpents unlocked, but is there another requirement to tame the Wilderlings in particular?
I don’t think those are actually tamable right now.
They aren’t tamable. I think they currently have the “Wolf” classification for Beast Lore as they have the same ability and spec. If they become tamable who knows what they will be.
It is similar to the Scorpion’s at the start of the Nighthold. Prior to 9.1 non of them were tamable despite beast lore indicating otherwise. Blizzard is just lazy when it comes to smaller stuff like this.
Gotcha, so is it fairly likely at least that even if they’re not tameable now, they should become tameable at some point in the future? I can’t say that there have been many “Beast” class creatures out there that are simply non-tameable with no reason or qualification.
Unless they reclassify them as something else I think it is a safe bet that at some point in the next you know 4 years they will be tamable. It is sad because that isn’t even a joke cuz legion came out almost 5 years ago now and said scorpions are only now tamable which is a big oll feels bad for those NF hunters who really are in to the whole fantasy thing like yourself. Who knows maybe in a coming patch they will add a mob that gives us another book letting us learn how to tame them.
Also there might be more then you think. I know there ar a TON of dinos you can’t tame The phoenix from Tempest Keep aswell also the majority of stuff in Drustvar is all off limits sadly.
Well that makes being a Beast Mastery hunter even more depressing. If we’re going to be the bottom of the barrel for DPS performance, at least they could have thrown us a bone in the form of letting us just go ahead and tame the new beasts for the fantasy side of things, since that’s just an NPC flag to set and mostly cosmetic.
Thing is I really have to wonder the logic behind these and many other beasts not being tameable. We haven’t seen any lore that might prevent it, and we can already tame in-demand world bosses which ACTUALLY causes lots of other players issues (like the nightmare that was Rei Lun tames).
I am hoping they will be introduced as Spirit Beasts. We need more options for that family.
well you will likely only find hunters at the bottom of the barrel if they are ether playing the spec poorly/ wrong or if you have other excellent players in your groups. Keep in mind sims are taking in averages meant to represent the specs potential. We may have lower potential then specs like frost mages and shadow priests BUT we can do 100% of our DPS while moving and only have one spell we really need to micro manage
Right now I honestly think a lot of the gimmicky tames like the purple snake and the robot owl are sort of unintentional but it isn’t broken like say the AQ40 boss glitch so they just let us have them.
In my mind we have two likely reasons behind why they aren’t tamable right now.
-
Blizzards have plans for some kind of secret or hunter specific content associated with the type of mobs yet to be implemented.
-
It is a short sight due to time constraints in development and or laziness as I stated in a prior post.
RIGHT? It is the land of the dead I feel like this would have been a prime opportunity to offer new spirit beasts maybe even up res some old spirit beast models and add some fancy new ones. With all the new secrets in the world that have us get toys, mounts and other gimmicky items you would think some new trackable/ tameable mobs would be hidden around the shadowlands sadly so far we have just gotten several that are “missable” from story quests.
I’m not really sure how to feel about Spirit Beasts to be honest. The abilities feel very underwhelming.
If anything, a part of why I want the wilderlings so much is that they’re already Ferocity, which already feels like the most useful passive and active ability.
