According to my personal code of etiquette (as a hunter), kills always trump tames.
When PvP realms were a thing, I used a low level character on a practically dead PvP server to camp and kill rares for the achievements. The three in Sholazar Basin were also rare hunter pets. It took a week to find Loqânahok in the middle of the night. There was no one there and I killed him and got the achievement.
Later, someone got really mad at me for killing him, even though there was no one else in the zone, and no reason to believe there would be anyone there for hours. Go figure.
you can ask him⌠if heâs in proximity f mob.
Yes and yes.
Yes and yes.
No and no.
Just wait the â40 minutesâ if you want the pet tame so badly.
The reality is there is no right answer. No one is entitled to a mob. You want to tame it I want to kill it, we both want things from the mob, so the question I have is why do you think your reason for wanting the mob is better or greater than mine, and gives you more ârightâ to it than my reason?
I go into War Mode. Less people to deal with.
Soon as I tame it, I unflag War Mode.
I legitimately probably wouldnât notice you, let alone realize youâre a hunter or what youâre doing
Try late, late, late, late at night when everyone is asleep, or have someone pull you in a super dead server.
100% this, and im a hunter
You got to be greedy ingame or people will walk all over you and you will never get anything. If i want to kill a mob, i kill it. If i want to tame it, ill tame it. Its what i did with a few rare mons like the blu snail rare that keeps its name. Even tho after i saw 3-4 people come in to kill it (i set it up to spawn when noone was around)
Mobs that can be tamed should drop a token for hunters if killed by another player while engaged by hunter.
Take token to Mob Menagerie in town, and you can get your tame from there instead.
When I used to log on to kill Oondasa before work and there was just a hunter and myself there I would let him know I will let you tame it if nobody else shows up. Somebody always showed up that wasnt in agreement, so I got the tag every time, but I genuinely would have let a hunter tame it.
Iâd help.
Or just ignore it and walk away
Thats a lot of effort.
Surrly just have better mob management so some are hunter rares, some are battle pet rares, some are mount rares, and the bulk are regular loot or whatever.
There was zero need to have a tameable rare which drops mounts.
Oh, wow, the Heavenly Blue skin looks really nice. As a hunter, I side with anybody killing the creature. If it were really a big issue, Blizz should introduce a second, less sought after creature with the same appearance for hunters to tame.
But thatâs the fun part about difficult tames, you never know when youâll get lucky enough to succeed in the tame.
Getting that one is rough on a busy server. I recommend camping it late monday evening or early Tuesday morning if your work/life schedule ever allows it.
