Taming rares which drop mounts or pets

So Im after the Cloud Serpent Hunter pet from the Mogu Assault. Ive been trying for ages but literally every time there is someone else there and they kill it because they dont want to come back in 40 minutes.

Question for the masses, if you saw a Hunter with no pet when you zoned in and the mob you wanted spawned would you:
Kill it (why should I wait for some nobody I wont see again)
Kill it but only if they are from the other faction (I owe you nothing !!)
Let them tame it (1st there deserves it)

How about if you were on your Hunter and you wanted it. Would you leave and come back or hope to get in 1st with the tag ?

technically first to interact with it ‘wins’.

Demand a payment to not kill it. Lol

Right, but if you zone in and see a Hunter with no pet will you have a crack at hitting first or leave it for them and come back ?

I have come to accept that I need to play my cards right and avoid upsetting as few people as humanly possible when I tame something, which means going on a hunt at ungodly hours of the night. With Huolon, for example, there is no “first tag” when it comes to taming with other people trying to kill it. It simply drops dead. I don’t blame the players for these disagreements. It was Blizzard who created this mess.

I would find a dead realm where there is no one there and realm hop to it using my army of alts I keep for purposes like that.

I honestly don’t think I would even consider they’d be there to tame it unless they told me so. I don’t really tame many pets when I play hunter and forget that’s something that others like to collect.

Exactly what is the full name of the mob it drops from?

Kill it.
You can find a substitute elsewhere.

I sure do wish it was that simple with more than a few tames. But it’s not, so

Kill it, without question. If it drops a mount I don’t have. I will try and use something that won’t necessarily kill it immediately, in the hopes of others getting the tag, but if you then tame it I’m gonna be mad at you, even if you feel justified. Especially if it’s an actual rare spawn. There’s other cloud serpents, go tame one of those.

“If I see a hunter without a pet” I’m gonna assume they’re using lone wolf. Or not notice in the first place that they are a hunter. Sorry (not sorry) not gonna pay attention to every single player’s class I see in the open world, especially if I’m fixated on something else.

Its Rei-Lun and its a unique skin.

I would think the same can be said of the mount it drops. Hard to imagine anyone uses all of the hundreds of mounts in the game.

Better hope your taming is faster than my dps then.

Nah, I just avoid conflict completely. It’s not worth the headache, and it works well enough for me. There isn’t a pet that I have gone after that I have not been able to get with enough patience and persistence. There is still a pretty pointless conflict in design which could have, and should have, been avoided regardless.

It’s a lovely mount. I have a priest who uses it.

What faction is the character that needs this?

As a hunter who has many times been in this same situation and had my share of wins where I tamed the pet and losses where I didn’t if I am on a non hunter as rare as it may be I go by whoever gets there first but also I try and make sure to go after it on a dead realm or at odd times when no one is there.

If they asked me politely, if they can tame it. Probably let them. I won’t go asking someone are they standing here to tame it or something.

How do you realm hop? Doesnt the group you join need to be in the zone?

To Murdercarpet, Alliance Hunter. On Cael.

I have multiple accounts.

I will see if I can find it for you.

D. Gank petless hunter.
