Taming Hutia at level 120?

Is anyone aware of any way to tame this spirt beast? It must be reduced to 30% health before taming. But anything I do one shots it… any ideas?

Copied and pasted from wowhead:

Level 110 or higher.

  1. Turn off War Mode.
  2. Strip off your gear - all of it.
  3. Fly up very high.
  4. Dismount, fall, and die.
  5. Spirit Rez to get the 75% stat reduction.
  6. Equip a low level gun such as the Heirloom gun.
  7. Light DPS then tame at 30%.
  8. If it tries to heal during the tame, hit it with Counter Shot and then tame.

At 120 I tamed it. Took off all gear and just melee auto attacked like once of twice. I didn’t purposely get red sicknesses to lessen my stats or anything, just got butt naked and couple slaps, then tame beast.

Shouldn’t the Soft Foam Sword work on it at this point?

I seem to recall that it works on non-elites only. Hutia is an elite mob.

I remember when I was doing the Venomsaur mount quest. Standing naked in Ungoro punching dinosaurs

Thank you for your tip to tame Hutia, the first time I tried I killed her, I wanted to cry!
