Not sure if anyone else is running into this but the cats and raptors I tame in the barrens aren’t starting with ANY ability. Not even a level 1 claw or bite. What’s going on here?
If you open up your general tab and go to Pet Training, are you able to get abilities?
No, there isn’t anything in the pet spell page or in the pet training. I’ve tried relogging, reloading, taming a lower level and a level 17 raptor, a level 12 cat. No abilities on any of them.
I remember this happening to me just keep taming different types till you get one that has it
Not every tameable creature inherently starts with abilities like claw or bite. You’re better off going to the classic petopia site and filtering by ability and going out and taming a specific monster that the site says will have claw 2 or whatever it is you’re looking for.
Once you tame that monster and use it a bit you as the hunter will then also learn that ability and be able to teach it to your future pets.
Lot of mobs don’t start with abilities. If you want a comprehensive list, check out classic petopia.
That’s actually pretty normal for what we had in vanilla. On petopia you can look up the specific pet family abilities you want and go grab that particular pet to learn the ability. Then, pets within that same family can learn the spell by going to your training icon in the general tab of your spellbook. Lots of wolves actually don’t come with furious howl for instance, so you learn it from one, then transfer it to the one you want. Growl however, you learn at trainers.
Are your training points in the negative, when you view the pet in your character tab? If so, you might not have abilities pop up for use on the pet bar. I noticed that I had to get my owl significantly higher in loyalty before I even saw growl 1.
Just went and got claw, bite, and furious howl because of this thread. Honestly forgot about this system, but I miss it. I like these little RPG heavy elements
