Hunter Level 16 - Pet was in stable when I went to tame a Greater Fleshripper (Level 16) in Westfall. Mob was on me the entire time. Full cast of Tame Beast completed yet nothing happened it just continued to attack me while I was at low health so I died. I couldn’t find anything saying Tame Beast can fail randomly through google and since Blizzard won’t appeal a death I guess I’m stuck re-rolling because of bs? Can I have back my $15 for your bad coding?
That has happened to me too, it’s a bug and it’s pretty annoying it can be pretty dangerous to tame a pet
Taming a pet is rather dangerous by default - even without any bugs.
Your armor is reduced by 100% - and the danger is always present for something to go wrong. I usually never tame a pet without a healer friend spamming me or a friend to help. And if solo, I make sure I have every buff / elixir / etc possible active.
Some mobs can CC the hunter out of tame pet and do the same thing as described.
If you’re health is getting too low for comfort during the process, its always a good idea to back off, pop a pot, and engage (or run).
Thanks for your replies. I have died before and I fully understand that those deaths were my fault, but when I die because of a bug at such a low level it leaves such a sour taste in my mouth. Like I died to a bug in a 20 year old game before I even got to level 20. I bug that causes you to die and makes you have to restart from the beginning. I am supposed to trust that same developer at level 40, at 60, that my character won’t die to a bug? Especially since they don’t care enough about their player base to have an appeals process for errors in their games coding. Guess I get why Asmon doesn’t want to play a game that will screw you over.
It can fail. There is no 100% guaranteed that at the end of tame beast channeling, you actually tame it although most of of the time you do.
Should have paid attention in Beast Lore 101.
