Talking head box, needs a real disable option

I thought with the updated UI we could set up the interface like we wanted without having to resort to third party software. My hopes were a little too high I suppose. while the new UI is nice, and I don’t have to use Bartender to get things set, I’m still having to resort to hunting an add-on to turn off that accursed talking head. Before anyone opens their cake-hole about checking / unchecking the talking head box in the edit mode, all that does is make it visible to set it where you want it, it does NOT disable the talking head.

I used to use HideTalkingHead, but its so outdated and doesn’t support the pre-patch. BeQuiet has updated, but it still show the box a brief moment and the audio, and the text message showing it blocked the annoyance.

I’m not asking for much, just an actual disable option for the talking head

Or my god, at least let me resize that huge freaking thing. lol

Or at least move it to the top of the screen instead of have it crammed down over your actionbars, like wth?

you can move it with the UI editor system, but you can’t resize it, or turn it off.

I moved mine in the UI editor. And was extremely sad that MoveTalkingHead addon no longer works. :sob:

Hidetalkinghead was great as it just hid the screen not the vocal part.

Only compromise with the new UI is to move it to an area that is the least distracting for you. My UI is centered on the bottom with my player and target frames just above the action bars. That leaves the top left part of the screen empty. I moved the talking head frame there. Doesn’t distract as much.

Hope hidetalkinghead gets updated or picked up by someone though :stuck_out_tongue:

or at the very |L|EAST a resize button, so you can minimize it down to next to nothing. it’s so annoying to have that thing pop up, and it’s huge now. No matter where I put it, it’s in the way…
PLZ BLIZZ…do this

Steffen is correct. You can move the talking head, but (at least as far as I’ve seen) you can’t resize it. You can also kill the box when it appears by clicking the “X” in the upper right corner, but I get that’s not the same thing as disabling it entirely.

It would be nice to have the option to change the size of the box, or to disable it entirely. One could argue disabling it entirely breaks the immersion, but really, it’s a disembodied floating head and voice coming out of nowhere to give us a mission briefing. It’s already a break from the immersion, unless Blizz wants to tell us the Gnomes worked up a radio inside everyone’s helms.

Leatrix solves this along with other QoL oversights.

This!
I want to resize the box so, it’s literally just a talking head I can shove behind the mini map and NEVER see it. I don’t need to see the text, I’ve got ears. Those that play muted? Can have the full box.

Just downloaded it and confirmed. Thx! Talking head frame is hidden but the audio still comes through (which is what I wanted).

Yeah I don’t think there is a way to disable audio (I remember warden towers in legion). Some people had linked a muteaudio addon for the talks we have about this, but you have to find speech strings to mute and that is far too tedious.

Also Blizzard restricted the ability to wholesale delete audio files with patch 8.2, to regulate data integrity.

I have been very sad that this hasn’t been updated for DF. All the more reason to not play… those < bleep > ing things are the most annoying feature they ever added to this game. Was SOOOOO hoping they’d finally ditch them…

But you Blizzard “They Know Fun”!!!

thankfully its easily moved with the new UI, but I cant stand that thing at all. Just give me the audio please

Edited my original post. Wanted the audio so this can fully replace hidetalkinghead.

Does Leatrix solve the problem of the text in my chat box fading out? Chatter no longer works and the fading text is driving me batty. lol

Disable chat fade

Prevent chat from fading after a time period.

From their website. I never use it myself, though. I just use the auto vendor trash and repairing (plus talking heads).
