Talent Trees - The real bloat

The majority of fights dont require weakauras.

To be frank, the alternatives are viable, they just arenā€™t always optimal. You can totally play how you like, but some talents work better for some places. e.g., I wonā€™t take longer range in dungeons. I wonā€™t take Evanglism in dungeons. Some people like uppies. I donā€™t. CC talents can do wonders, etc.

I disagree. Addons have been in WoW from the start and itā€™s what makes the game VERY unique. The fact that we can completely customize our UI and have a UI customization community is amazing. If people donā€™t like it, maybe WoW isnā€™t for them? There are other games that donā€™t have addons.

I used to run Counter-Strike servers and would customize the heck out of them. Meanwhile CS2 is less customizable and honestly a less fun community IMO.

That may be true, but itā€™s not on Horde side. The hairstyles are really good too.

Oh, well then 207.8M downloads happened for no reason. CurseForge should get rid of it.

I agree. I have close to 30 myself.

It still doesnt change that they arent required. How many download other addons like bagnon, is bagnon required?

None of them are needed. I have a bunch of frilly ones.

Yep, came up 4 mins ago.

The current trees are a mess. We need a rebalance/redo all around. We donā€™t need to go back to MoP. We just need less nodes overall.

Somewhat related to the other topic, Iā€™m pretty sure every tank Iā€™ve run LFR with has DBM. The non-stop taunting at inappropriate times makes me wonder what they see that I donā€™t.

Just big fingering those buttons with incidental mouse clicks because they donā€™t have it keybound!

I have a suspicion you either havenā€™t played, or forgot what the other two talent systems were like.

They tried your way. Back in Mist they gave us three columns of abilities we would choose from as we leveled up. We ran into the same criticisms. The same criticisms we had back in Vanilla. We ALWAYS researched to best options.

Stop pretending there is some golden system that doesnā€™t run into the problem of meta picks. As there has always been, there will always be meta picks. I suggest you come to terms with this reality. Blizzard sure has.

Not only that, even with only 6 rows of 3 talents, they STILL werenā€™t balanced. For example, the Ret talent build for the entirety of Legion was the exact same the whole damn time. So any argument that, if we had less talents, Blizzard could evenly balance them better, is a load of bologna. Might as well have these bigs trees since at least we get some choice.

I canā€™t say Iā€™d be opposed to core abilities, and then leaving it to us to choose passives that change how the core abilities function.

Maybe passives that change the ability from single target to multi. Burst damage instead of DoT damage. Adding debuffs and/or buffs.

Incorrect. Vanilla had WAY LESS talent build variety, and of course Iā€™m talking about efficient builds, not talking about Timmy putting points in the wrong things, thatā€™s not a new good build, thatā€™s just a bad spec.

The good builds were also on the internet for anyone to copy, but these sites were less known, so more people just ā€œmade their own buildsā€, but in the end they had the same build as the guide because the good talents were just that obvious.

I think the real issue is that itā€™s virtually impossible to give players truly meaningful choices while still achieving any semblance of true class balance.

Thatā€™s why they should consider focusing on more cosmetic flavours for the classes via either glyphs or hero talents. For example, should my fury warrior be burning with rage and have fire animations or should she be crackling and booming with lightening? You know, stuff like that.

I donā€™t mind either version of talent tree really, but having gone back to the old trees for a while I think I do prefer the MoP ones a touch more as Iā€™m not the biggest fan of messy, overly complex things. I much prefer simple, clean, streamlinedā€¦ :upside_down_face:

who tf is we? i pick my talents on my own will cause im not a mindless idiot who needs icyveins to play the game for me

Honestly they can just eliminate the class talent tree and leave it spec only and that would clean things up a lot.

They also left the passives in that tree. Had you read my opinion, your response may have turned out differently.

Nothing can play the game ā€œforā€ anyone. It might help, but it is not sitting there clicking buttons while you are busy on your shift at work.
