Talent trees still need some tweaks

In that some talents should be baseline, plain and simple. Like wake of ashes for instance, it’s very obvious that you will simply never not use this talent. In fact the current datamined tier set is centered around it’s use.

It just feels bad overall to be forced to spend a point on an ability that simply should be either given at a certain level, or given from the start. As in the case with tet currently we simply can only specialize in single target, or multi target, there is no middle ground for either. Which could be alleviated by freeing up points through making abilities baseline, over on the tree and simply being forced to buy them back. Which was cited as a problem when the trees were first announced, and is still an issue now.

I will admit that there has been a lot of strides taken with the trees that has relieved some of the strain presented with talent points being dead essentially due to having to path and pick up specific abilities. Yet there is still more work that needs to be done on them, and even with where wake of ashes is moved now it’s still too far down the tree honestly, and while it’s very easily accessible due to it being at a center point, it could and should be replaced with something else and made baseline as part of the spec.

Bro having access to jade serpent statue on my brewmaster monk for all that sweet soothing mist I can cast while getting face trucked is pinnacle class immersion.

Remember all the statues in any brucelee movie, crouching tiger hidden dragon, kung fu panda, etc? Absolutely DRIPPING with statues.

I should have a talent that just turns my fists into statues. Prob legs too. For the immersion.

I think it’s inevitable with talent trees this big that some are gonna be too good to pass up. It just kind of comes with the territory.

What I find weird is that it seems like every single spec has a talent tree that starts off by giving you only one option, effectively making your first talent not a choice in a literal way rather than “you technically can not pick it, but you’ll just be hurting yourself”.

Those abilities probably could have been made baseline.

IDK I feel like making some abilities baseline would be in general a good idea. It would allow for more flexibility in choices, over what we have now of literally have to single file build in some cases to access abilities that make it possible to raid or do M+ essentially.

They haven’t even touched shaman or hunter talent trees yet. More than just tweaks are needed for some.

As a general rule I feel like if something as deep into the tree as Wake of Ashes is considered the best talent in every single scenario, it’s probably more indicative of a balance issue than anything else.

Though I do agree that some stuff should just be made baseline, especially since the spec trees typically force 1 or 2 abilities on us anyway and we literally don’t get a choice about it.

Feels like they forgot shamans even exist at all in the game.

Talent trees still need some tweaks and ret is probably at the very bottom of that list. Could’ve gone into TWW with 0 changes and still feel amazing to play. It’s wild we’ve gone the entire Alpha with some other classes being entirely ignored.

Yeah the primary issue with wake of ashes is it simply is an extremely powerful ability due to it both doing a lot of damage, and being a huge rotational boon during your burst windows thanks to it generating three holy power. There are other classes with similar abilities that are stuck deep in the tree from my understanding, in which they just need to be baseline.

Its fine to have SOME abilities be on the tree, such as divine storm and etc. given they simply are on there to fluff the tree up to make it look bigger than it really is. Yet some simply don’t, and would present much more beneficial effects overall by making them baseline and either freeing up a point, or adding a new ability in that just buffs some aspect of the spec.

Here lemme just place this here first

Ok I just need you to know that I read your whole post out loud to my husband with a very dramatic “serious” voice and we had a good laugh at the level of sarcasm you committed to.

FOR THE IMMERSION!
