Talent Trees are pointless now

They give up on class balancing 1/4-1/2 through expacs so they can sell those balance changes to you next expac.

I like DF talent trees very much. Though I’m super casual player and don’t care much about performance so probably that’s why. But for me personally this system is great. I can pick whatever passives or actives I like and just avoid the spells and effects I don’t wanna use. And like before DF I had to play the way class was built and there’s no much place for creativity. Now it’s kind of 4-5 must have talents on top of the tree and after that you are free to choose. Though it impacts performance huge ofc if you don’t use the best build and ignore some talents and I’d really really like it all to be balanced more fair but I have nothing against the form of the trees itself

I think stacking stats is still more important than whether or not you chose a passive. Stacking your BiS stat still makes way more of an impact and will make up for the damage loss.

Not only that, you lose damage flailing about with your extra complex rotation and when mistakes happen during movement, etc, versus not losing damage because you just chose the passive anyway.

This is disinformation at its finest. They do class balancing on a weekly to a monthly bases. And to say they don’t is purely falsity.

The thing with talent trees is that most people pick the cookie cutter/bestestest build because that’s what most gamers value over RP flavour these days.

If nothing else the trees do allow some customization based on the content you are doing and personal preference
not a lot if you want to not suck, but at least some.

I don’t think it’s possible to allow people to customize themselves completely and keep things even remotely balanced outside of more cosmetic things like glyphs that change the colour and/or theme of your abilities without changing their core functionality.

Yeah, that’s why VDH has existed in the state in it’s for TWO whole seasons, right?

They have data and they don’t need to touch every class and or spec you deem over perform or under perform. Your addons are insufficient and inconclusive anyways.

You can always tell who the sweaty, tryhard, no-lifers are when they say stuff like this.

I’m playing classic right now with a friend, and we’re kinda just duoing up the whole leveling process. Wowhead would tell me to take X Y and Z talents that since he’s a mage, and I’m an Enh shaman would make zero sense, like Improved Weapon Totems since he’s a mage, and Restorative Totems, because we’re just nuking targets down. Instead, I can tweak the build to better fit how we’re playing in our circumstance.

Yes, there will certainly be a meta build when you want to just max out, but that doesn’t mean that a talent or two might fit better in a situational circumstance like in mine. So to people like those two quoted, go touch grass. Trees are fine, stop dumbing things down just because you can’t think on your own.

My issue with the talent trees is all of the points I need to put into stuff I don’t want, to get down to the stuff I do.

You never heard of illusion of choice? Talents are there just so you can think that you are making choice

button bloat is real. It is not about the meta players. Have you ever seen some of the rotations out there? It is freaking insane.
But you know bliz when they try to fix something they kill it with fire, it is just like that.

It’s funny. Some MMOs don’t even have talents. At all. And, it hasn’t seemed to affect them. They just offer more abilities, though, and you get to choose what you want on your bar. It all comes down to, “can all classes kill end-game mobs with the gear and abilities they have at that time?” If they can, it’s a win.

This is as insane as the time I was called a tryhard for not wanting people to use gear with 2 stats wasted on defense that does nothing in GW2 and makes it impossible for the real tank to get aggro.
Math is only for sweaty tryhards and no lifers!

That’s an extremely low bar to balance on.

With no counting macros, I only have 20 buttons to press on my ret and 33 on my fury warrior. Want more spells and abilities for the ret paladins. And out of those 20 that my pally has, I can literally just press about 4 in total to get the job done.

WoA should not be a talent. It should simply be a spell that all rets have since rets get it anyways. The majority of the people who make the game now, never play it after they are finished making it.

No one cares, nerd.

And what do you expect? Keep adding abilities to infinity? Button bloat is a thing and should not be the norm.

Adding talents that change how abilities behave is a better approach.

You don’t HAVE to pick them or even add them to your rotation. Why is this so difficult to understand?

I just don’t see the benefit of removing abilities. Leave them be and let the players figure out what’s best. Don’t demand they be removed because you don’t like it.

Veidmann said it best. Button Bloat is a player problem and the player won’t admit it.

Of you dont like it theres an uninstal option available to you at all times and WoW will be better off without you
 MMMMMK BYEEEE!

I am not a fan of bloat, bring on the passives!

Wait what?

This is precisely what talent trees should do. I honestly think the talent trees are too bloated with abilities. They should enhance your base kit, not be the base kit.
