Talent Tree, ability, spell bloat. This needs to stop

What happened to trimming down abilities?

We have spells from shadowlands that shouldnt be in a talent tree at all or even in our spell books. like get rid of them.

The talent tree is a mess. A HUGE Mess. Why not just bring back the old talent trees where we just normally pick 1 out of 3 ina row.

The ability bloat is a huge mess Im literally running out of keybinds and i refuse to put more than 2 spells in a shift macro. You didnt need to do that in the past like why now?

Blizzard decided to not listen to streamers and people who regurgitate their nonsense, because it’s not how to make a game successful when everyone else was tired of pruning.

No it isn’t. The talent trees are the best thing to happen to this game. There’s absolutely some tweaking and fixing needing done for some specs. But overall, this system was sorely needed.

Because it was a crap system.

Next time, post in the other thread that already tells you how bad these ideas are, instead of making yet another bad ideas thread.

That was all the way back in Warlords of Draenor, and since then abilities have been added to the game.

Why not?

HOW?

Because Blizzard decided those talents were no longer a good system and went back to the first talent system with a different iteration.

Then pick passive talents.

Please, please, PLEASE say WHY just ONCE.

I have sixty keybinds for abilities, and that’s way more than I actually need. Learn to use more of your keybinds or macros.

Man this community makes a big circle doesnt it?

So talents were once trees, then turned into the pick 1 of 3 in 4 rows things, now it’s back to trees why? Because trees are just better in general and give more ways to play your character. Pick 1 block out of 3 is boring.

You’re not wrong here some specs have too many buttons sure, but this isn’t every single spec in the game.

Think of them as gifts from the overworld :), and they are recolored now so they fit with everyone’s kits this i would say is a non issue.

Pick and choose. Pick and choose.

You don’t need everything. If you have too many actives, pick some passives to make them more powerful. Not enough dots for cerain content, make a second template for that content.

Make smart, meaningful choices instead of trying to limit other peoples!

You don’t always have to follow the meta or guides for success. You can just forge your own path on whatever your comfortable with, get practice in and bam.

Or, or… you can just quit Wow and play some simplified action shooter. Heard Wolvenstein 2009 is a fun time. :wink: Do recommend sailing the seven seas to get it tho.

You don’t have more then 10 abilities you usually use on a rotation (used, not in total) and you don’t have more then a controller’s worth of abilities. Esp if you learn how to macro or bind alt/shift keybinds on your action bar. And any extra situational abilities you have are just that.

Five action bars fully binded; two with letter keys (Q, E, R, T, S, F, G, Z, X, C, V, B, and shift combination) and three with number keys (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, -, =, shift combination, and alt combination). It really helps that I have a twelve thumb button mouse.

Your case seems different than mine. I have enough keybinds and it is comfortable for my hands but not my enjoyment. I just HATE using that many. I don’t want all these random cooldowns! Delete halo/dstar, fade, shadowfiend (holy), symbol of hope, mana potions, int potions, healthstones, health potions, just make mana irrelevant to healers in M+ because if we heal forever we lose anyway so there is no problem if we heal forever. Make fortify passively apply to everyone in my group. Let me pick to stack rhapsody on holy nova or holy fire so I don’t have to use holy nova anymore. Then I kiss you mwah mwah

I personally don’t like having 20 keybinds of regularly used abilities. But I know others do. The talent trees should be a solution to this, with the option to take more passive talents than active abilities, but it doesn’t really work out that way.

i don’t mind having many abilities but i hate how the dragonflight talent “revamp” was just putting our abilties on the tree instead of getting them as you level

Anyone trying to defend the out of control mess ability bloat has become is hilarious.

Some classes ( rogue/mage ) you can’t even play the game properly without a naga mouse with 20 buttons on the side of it on top of the 25+ on your keyboard.

It is by far the largest problem with retail, and now they are going add even more nonsense on top of it with their hero talents.

I don’t even think it has to do with streamers. There’s a half point to it all. There are indeed some classes that have too many buttons, its just a more nuanced issue than “remove talent trees, and spells”

I however, think you are spot on with peeps thinking for themselves.

The other thread is the exact same points as this one and the OP of the other thread said he got it from a streamer. Like exactly the same, down to the “we all hate the SL abilities and they need removed because SL sucked” bs.

Oh I know. I say that in every thread: some specs do need work, but it isn’t an overall “prune everything” issue. :slightly_smiling_face:

I don’t know why you’re all bothering to say that the trees are for options for your characters. Everyone is just gonna follow whatever icy veins or wowhead tells them is optimal.

I think some classes have gotten out of hand like monks and rogues. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask for some changes like Ret and DH’s got.

Personal opinion…the more spells abilities in the game the better. Variety is what makes a game replayable. I wish the abilities and spells we do have now would allow for differing rotations as needed, like say a pure dps rotation, then a rotation for kiting, rotation to apply combo effects like debuffs, etc.

Agree with title. I’m hoping they say there will be some thoughtful trimming/pruning and design adjustment for the next xpac.
