They have to in order to make them rotation not feel bad for casting anything else. It shouldn’t be detrimental to cast a lava burst.
That being said. Clearly!!! They need to do a natural CDR on the major cooldowns to make up for it. Wind shear to 10 seconds. Elementals to 1:45… ascendence to 1:45… Etc.
Also liquid magma totem and primordial wave not having matching cooldowns is a huge design flaw.
I feel like they reorganized the spec properly but then ignored the fall out from the changes. They need to get it together now.

yeah none of our major dps cooldowns are actually “major” damage so we need to cdr on them to maintain uptime on our flat damage profile. If they dont reduce ele’s cd and increase its damage we’re just gonna be bad and were already not that competitive in bursting above 7 targets or on boss damage. Im worried about the lack of cdr on defensives and kick too.
I think last expansion it only reduced the CD of any 1 given CD at a time, now it’s doing it to all of them (and to Prim wave which it never did before).
Couple that power with the fact that Lava Burst has long had lower base damage than Lightning Bolt and we got to this CD degeneracy we have today. Don’t get me wrong, it feels nice to basically have CDs be half their actual CD but this is an evil that has to put away.
It certainly is worrying with defensives and utility, but this talent existing in its current state is not healthy for Ele gameplay. It’s just spamming our filler because it allows us to use CDs twice as much. It might sting but we need these changes.

Defensives are the big ones. Shamans of all specs have needed better defensive CDs for literally decades. Even now that Elemental literally has 2x more defensive uses due to CDR it still isn’t on par with any mage spec.

Still waiting on an something to help in regards to the insane Cooldown nerf…
patch is upcoming. this change is insane without cutting CD timers.
I think they just need to bump Elemental down to 2 minute CD.
I’m not a fan of the CDR reduct on LB cast because it has entirely warped the spec.
